Although the reason for the murder is not clear. Lot of times the property dispute is the main risen .With increasing land rates in Mangalore and surrounding areas it has become a trend for builders to catch one of family members and entice him to sell the property by making individual agreement. When other members do not agree then the dispute aggravates and finally the builder gains control or if the fight persists, some one is killed. There are incidents in Bejai where builders have adopted these methods and usurped the land. We should look this case and the previous case in Puttur with this point of view also.Surprising that both the recent incidents are from the Catholic community where a sttong church leadership and also local christian community exists. Somewhere we as christian are failing to guide our own community people

Janet, appreciate if you don't comment without knowing the facts. Alchohol is bad but in this case, it is not the case. Do you think that those who don't drink alchohol don't kill anybody? Why there are so many dowry deaths in India committed by mother in laws? Is that due to alchohol consumption? It is wrong to assume something which is not the case. May Praveen's soul rest in peace. May Lord grant strength to family members of Praveen to bear this loss. Hope Naveen realises his mistake and may God forgive him.

dear Naveen how did you raise your hand against your own elder brother?who gave you the authority to do this?what did you win now? shame on you.atleast now ask God for forgivenessand your parents in the first place.just because one has no job or money doesnt mean on a sleeping person to raise hand beat him to death very gruel thing. but its not first time rivality between brothers do we remember in old testament Abel and kain.so sorry for the family.May the soul of Praveen rest in peace and may he forgive his brother from above.

Spoorthi Ullal, your pictures were very touching and I can imagine how the mother and other family members must have felt. This rivalry must have been going on since a long time and finally led to the killing. One has gone to meet God and the other will rot in jail.

Janet Mangalore's comment is disgusting. There is no where mentioned about the alcohol consumption in the article, with out generalizing the fact coming to a conclusion is not a good thing.Anger is the main reason for all these happenings there are many types of anger. All are born with anger it is one of the quality of human personality.Every living creature has this.It is needed sometime to show our concern on some issues, but it needs to be controlled accordingly. Some people suppress their anger in themselves and become ill. Some people become aggressive quickly and harm / hurt others(short temper)any kind of anger is dangerous in both the ways. Conducting workshops on how to control anger and divert it into positive may help and save many families. These kind of seminars should be held in schools, especially in village ares and should be made mandatory to every member of the family to attend.

We are highly depending upon formal means of social control like police, law etc....but unfortunately it failed to control any type of crime, hence society /community should press on Values, culture etc as a means formal control. Till few days back, i was happy that christians community ane amung others, rarely in DK rarely in media on wrong doings- murder etc, Sh! that guy put a black mark on community.

Its very sad to see parents of those brothers. I am sure that poor parents given them whatever they can give education, food etc. Both sons had given their parents what? ONLY TEARS…DEPRESTION..WORRIES…how they face society now? Society will respect them? One side poverty, Old age, one son is killed, another son in jail? Now who will take care of them? I can just pray GOD…Oh God, Give their parents Wisdom, Strength, Courage to face society.

The best thing is parents should not make property or assets for their children. Parents duty should be to give good education to children and let the children work hard and make assets for themself. Why children has to fight for their parents hard earned money. Parents always think about their children's future and work till they die. But what children will do, they fight for their parents property for more share and kill their own siblings or else rivalry continues between own blood. Shame.
