JMJ Dubai's Family Day-out at Zabeel Park

Dubai, Dec 4 : Jesus Mary Joseph [JMJ] Dubai , a largest Konkani Prayer of St. Mary’s Church Dubai had organized a picnic for all its members, their families and friends on Sunday 2nd December 2012 at the Zabeel Park , from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm.  The pleasant weather that prevailed during the day enabled the organizers to conduct a fabulous outdoor activity. The members gathered in large numbers as one big family and made this event a grand success. The gathering thoroughly enjoyed from dawn till dusk on the lush green lawns of the Zabeel.
 























































Jacky Star team served delicious breakfast at 8.30 a.m.  Soon after the breakfast completed, the picnic revelers got into action with interesting stall games like ‘Marble & Spoon’, ‘Pick up the right coin’, ‘Underwater coin match,  ‘Ball in the hole’, ‘Lucky Bingo’ etc. Almost each person gathered in front of these games stalls and tried their skill and luck with great enthusiasm. The children also participated in different games lined up exclusively for them by the organizers conducted mainly by JMJ prominent member Oswald Fernandes and JMJ Leader Jerina Lewis .
 
Lawrence D'souza, Advisor of JMJ and Jerina Lewis, Main Coordinator of JMJ, greatly supported by most efficient JMJ volunteers initiated much awaited team-wise games from 11:30am  onwards.  The adult attendees were divided into four smaller groups namely Red, Green, Yellow and Blue.  After appointing a team leader, each and every team played  fascinating group games.
 
Just after the conclusion of morning session games, sumptuous lunch was served by Jacky’s Star Restaurant at 1.30 p.m. The afternoon session continued with more exciting group games including singing and enacting hilarious skits The group games were judged by Boniface Carlo and Francis DSouza  two  prominent members of JMJ prayer group. The teams kept cheering and applauding themselves.
 
Tea and Coffee was served with delicious snack at 4.00 pm.  The teams were now eagerly waiting to know the final score of their team participating games. The emerging winners were announced and prizes were distributed to the winning team. . Best team leaders and best actors were also appreciated for their skills. Couple of lucky draws were conducted on the JMJ entry coupons and gifts were given away to many lucky winners. Several spot prizes were are conducted.  Each child carried home atleast a gift or a goodie bag along with their parents and this made everyone happy and contented.   There were gifts galore donated by friends, well wishers and JMJ committee members.
 
Grand finale was a game of 'Housie Housie' which had fantastic gifts like Microwave, Rice Cooker, Steam Iron and other exclusive electronic items. With his frisky narration, again Lawrence DSouza conducted this great  game assisted by Jerina Lewis  and fantastic prizes were given away to the winners.
 
A huge crowd of 600+ people thoroughly enjoyed every moment throughout the day.  A lot of hard work and effort had gone into organizing a day filled with fun n frolic and the credit goes to all those who worked hard with a team spirit in their mind. All praises to the volunteers of JMJ prayer group who efficiently assisted throughout day to make this event a great success.
 
Like every year,  JMJ Konkani Prayer group continues to organize variety  programs with great zeal and enthusiasm  by arranging grand cultural programs and fellowship to its members, thus providing them memorable events along with every week’s spiritual activities.  JMJ encourages Konkani speaking people reside in Dubai as will as off Dubai City limits like in various camps to lead active Christian life, by providing free transport to attend church on Fridays  and thereafter to the JMJ Group prayers in the main hall in the evenings.
