Lok Sabha Disrupted Over Babri Demolition

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS): The Lok Sabha was stalled Thursday as Left parties and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as well as others blamed the government for not taking action against those responsible for the Babri Masjid demolition 20 years ago.

The house had to be adjourned till noon and again until 2 p.m. as the ruckus began as soon as proceedings began at 11.

Asaduddin Owaisi of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party, a BSP MP and Left members resorted to sloganeering against the government.

The members targeted the government for failing to take action against people who demolished the 16th century Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh Dec 6, 1992.

In response, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena stood up and raised slogans against these parties.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar urged the members to let the question hour run and assured that they would get a chance to speak on the issue during zero hour.

But as the disruption continued, the speaker adjourned the house till 12 noon. When the house met again, there were more disturbances, forcing the speaker to adjourn it further until 2 p.m.
