England End Day Two at 216/1


Kolkata, Dec 6 (IANS): Skipper Alistair Cook's unbeaten 136 propelled England to 216 for one at stumps on the second day of the third cricket Test against India at the Eden Gardens here Thursday.

Cook and his opening partner Nick Compton (57) strung together a partnership of 165 runs for the first wicket. Pragyan Ojha was the only wicket-taker for India in what was a dismal day for the hosts.

The visitors trail India by just 100 runs with nine wickets in hand.
