Mangalore: Entertainment Blends with Joy of Christmas at Spandana Trust Event

Mangalore, Dec 9: Spandana Trust, Infant Mary’s Convent, Jeppu, celebrated their Annual Day and Christmas with an entertaining programme here on Sunday December 9.

A formal stage programme was organized before the commencement of the cultural event.

The stage programme was presided over by Sr Metilda Monteiro, head, Sisters of Charity. Dr Ronald Fernandes of Deccan Herald, Fr Ronald D’Souza, director, ICYM, Sr Silvia Fernandes, Sisters of Charity, Infant Mary’s Convent head, Sr Evangeline, head, Spandana Trust and Usha Naik, head, Spandana Self-help Groups were the chief guests of the evening.

Prizes were distributed to students who had done well academically and to the members and self-help groups who won in various events and competitions conducted by the Trust.

Fr Ronald D’Souza, in his Christmas message, urged people and children to shine like stars and show the way to others, just like the one which guided the Magi to Bethlehem, the birth place of Jesus. He also asked everyone to lead a harmonious life and create a peaceful society and surroundings.

Dr Ronald urged all to be role model to others. By narrating two true stories of a man and a movie, he asked all to be extraordinary by way of hard work and dedication.

Sr Matilda, in her presidential address, said that Christmas is not just a day’s celebration with fun and enjoyment, but is a celebration of life.

Cultural programmes by students and self-help group members followed the formal function.

A big crowd gathered for the celebration, adding more colour to the event.
