Mangalore, Dec 13: A 29-year-old MBBS student from Lucknow was found dead at his flat in Shivbagh here on Thursday December 13.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Hamdan Rashid, a student of Yenepoya Medical College here.

He was the son of Mohammed Rashid and Farzana of Lucknow.

The deceased Rashid was staying alone at a flat in Shivbagh. It is said that he was suffering from asthma and was undergoing treatment for the past four years.

He was in regular contact with his family, calling them often and keeping them updated about his health condition. However, for the past four days he had not called home and no one had heard from him.

His death came to light Wednesday December 12 when foul smell started to emanate in the premises where he stayed. The watchman informed the owner who immediately arrived and began a search for the source of the smell. It was found to be emanating from the student's flat.

The door of the flat was locked and had to be forced open. Rashid's body was found inside the flat in a decomposed state.

It is suspected that Rashid might had a violent asthma attack and breathed his last while trying to reach for his medicine. As the body was decomposed, it is surmised that he might have died four days ago.

The body has been shifted to Wenlock mortuary.

Kadri police have registered a case.

Close your nose tightly for 2 minutes..You struggle to breathe..Asthma patient suffers 2-3 days to breathe .It is really a torture.Yoga and avoiding ice cream, cold drinks may reduce Asthma's impact.Especially, asthma patient staying alone is not advisable.Rashid's death is a big loss to his family.May god give strength to bear this tragic loss.

FYI HIS PARENTS HAD EXPIRED ABOUT 2YRS BACK, FOLLOWED BY HIS SISTERS DEATH LESS THAN A YEAR AGO.
Another sister of his was living with him until a few days back when she had to return to lucknow for some work.

The readers coming up with their own conclusions and judgement are just going on to prove that Justice Katju's statements were right.

Thanks embee for clearing my doubts as to why no one was in touch with Hamdan for four days. It is really very sad and I felt very bad when I read the news of the death of Hamdan who hails from this place in Lucknow. My sympathies to the parents and near and dear ones of Hamdan and pray that his soul may rest in peace.

i shall always remember hamdan as a very polite, soft spoken person. A man of honour, a true gentleman.
Just to clear the air about the 5 days where 'he didn't attend the class', because there was no class. He was preparing for his exams due next week.
I am sure that in such situations hit someone, family and friends come up with the thoughts of regrets such as '' if i had only ''. I request the readers not to come with ur own assumptions or speak ill of the dead. The least u could do is to pray for the departed soul.

Very sad to hear death of a student due to asthama attack. boy must have definitely had this problem. surprising how his parents did not take it seriously. this should be an eye opener. all are not fit and fine. those who are having health problems should always be in touch with their near ones. how sad his death went unnoticed for 4 days. RIP now.

This is how the Indian Rich Parents take care of their children, Just because they could afford a flat they rented out a whole flat for one son who was an Asthama patient and did not bother to appoint a guardian or call him with so many things that you can do with latest mobiles! anyway safety pays even though it is expensive!

Very Sad. RIP..It is important we care for people with medical needs, there should have been a help/friendly neigbor to check upon him on regular basis, or atleast he could have shared his room with a kind hearted room mate. All have to take care of each other to avoid similar situations. What's life if it doesn't involve little bit of caring for fellow people.
