Mangalore: Vijayanath Shetty to Join Congress on Dec 16

Mangalore, Dec 14: Social worker Vijayanath Shetty, who is also the president of Bajpe Bunts association and trustee of Bhoothanatheshwara temple, will be joining the Congress party.
Addressing a press meet here on Friday December 14, former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty said that along with Vijaynath Shetty, Ullas Rai, retired general manager of Vijaya Bank, Noor Mohammed Hussain, former deputy commissioner of excise and several others will join Congress.
They will officially join the party during a Congress convention to be organized by Suratkal and Vamanjoor block Congress committees at Vamanjoor-Kaikamba near the Polali arch on December 16. The convention will be presided over by MLA Ramanath Rai.
Janardhan Poojary, V S Ugrappa, Veerappa Moily, Oscar Fernandes and others will take part in the convention, said Shetty. "In the next election people will reject BJP and vote for Congress," he said.
"Vijayanath Shetty wants to serve the people and hence he is joining the right party," he added.
"People are disappointed with the administration of BJP. They are ready to join Congress because people believe in the party. The condition in BJP-ruled states like Gujarat, Rajasthan and Karnataka has worsened, and many development works are pending," he said.
P V Mohan, R K Prithviraj, Althaf, Abdul Aziz Basha, Ganesh Poojary, Abdul, Girish, T K Sudheer, Asif Jeppu and others were present at the press meet.
