Samjhauta Express Blast: Key Suspect who Planted Bombs Arrested

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NDTV): A key suspect in the 2007 Samjhauta Express blast, which killed 68 people and mostly Pakistanis, was arrested from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on Friday night.

The arrest came in the midst of Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik's ongoing visit to India.

The suspect, Rajendra Chaudhary alias Samandar Das, allegedly planted bombs in two coaches of the Samjhauta Express along with Kamal Chauhan, who is already under arrest.

Police have secured a transit remand for Das and will produce him tomorrow at the Panchkula courts near Chandigarh, where the Samjhauta Express case is being heard.

On February 18, 2007, two blasts had ripped through coaches of the Samjhauta Express near Panipat, when the train was heading from Delhi to Lahore.

The blast is alleged to have been carried out by Hindu right-wing extremists. The National Investigation Agency, which probes terrorism cases, has chargesheeted six people, including Swami Aseemanand and Sadhvi Pragya Thakur.

Though we can’t support any terrorist act, but there is the only way to teach lesson or stop those religious radicals that “Retaliation with firm consequences” We lost 166 lives in Mumbai attacks, perpetrators of these criminal activities are Hindus? 2,726 lives we lost in WTC attack in New York, those involved in those attack are Hindus? 48 people lost their life in Godhra Train Attack, people who poured the Petrol to burnout Godhra Train, are they Hindus? 13 Bomb attacks at Mumbai in 1993 lead to 257 deaths, are they Hindus?
From our own region, Jacintha Saldanha killed herself for whatever may be the reason, but you see the outcry from her religion to get the justice. But just go back and count the number of Students we lost or attacked in Australia did our MFA take any meaningful action till date? So, Hindus should keep quite when they lose their lives just because they are not minorities? Here the question is not about who killed who? But the major question is when our Justice System will punish them rigorously? Had our Congress Government pursued the case in proper manner to punish the first bomb blaster in India, we would not have lost so many lives till date and there was not be any retaliation action too

Even confession came from one such “Swamy”, ATS took one year to release the innocent youths and arrest the real "terrorists" just becoz difference in their name !! Swami Aseemanand is a former (RSS) activist from India who is accused of planning terror attacks on Ajmer Sharif, Mecca Masjid, 2006 Malegaon blasts and 2007 Samjhauta Express bombings. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Aseemanand on November 19, 2010 for his involement in Mecca Masjid bombing.On 24 December 2010 he was handed over to National Investigation Agency (NIA). However, in late March 2011, Aseemanand stated he was behind these blasts.

We have to look at closely Samjhauta Express & Malegaon Blasts together. In both cases, ATC first detained few Muslims youths for almost 3 to 5 years labeling them as “Terrorists”. Then confession came from one such “Swamy” and entire episode has been changed forever. Even after confession, ATC took almost one year to release the so called “Innocent Youths”. So, there is a big question mark on ATC functionality. If we believe now that Rajendra Chaudhary alias Samandar Das is the main culprit, then why did ATC took 5 years to arrest him? Again let us believe “Better late than never” principle, can Pakistan exchange Hafiz Muhammad Saeed for Rajendra Chaudhary? Under UPA rule everything is possible. They treat RSS and VHP is more dangerous than ISI or PFI just because they are associated with BJP. Let RSS and VHP change their stands to support Congress and then you see the result
