Kasargod: Minor Girl Raped by Brother, Friend for Two Years

Kasargod, Dec 18 (PTI): In yet another incident of sexual abuse of minors by their kin in Kerala, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her brother and his friend over the last two years.

Ashraf (31) from Manjeshwar and friend Abdul Azeez (22), hailing from Pavoor in Kasargod district, have been taken into custody, police said. They said the girl had also been taken to various places in Karnataka and raped.

The incident came to light when the girl was questioned by police recently after she was found in a hotel here along with four others late at night.

More persons are suspected to be involved and a detailed investigation has already begun, police said.

Kerala has been witness to such incidents over the last few weeks, the first being of a 17-year-old girl allegedly raped by her father and seven others at Paravoor in Ernakulam district over the last one year.

In another incident from that district, a six-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused by her 40-year-old father for six months after she was forced to drink alcohol. The man is absconding.

At Dharmadom in Thalassery in Kannur district, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father, 15-year-old brother and uncles for nearly two years. One of the accused died recently.

    Dear Mabel,

    First and foremost thing is due to poor law system and we have never come across any capital punishment against CRIMES(RAPE) due to which the hooligans roam freely . You might have heard a recent news about a women was gang raped in a moving bus this is due to poor law system. So in order get rid off such kind of heinous acts , enforce strict and stringent punishment against rapists and criminals irrespective of religioun then see how the crime rate will come down( I am not asking to apply ISLAMIC SHARIA LAW coz some like minded people think other way round).

    These Guys should be given Capital Punsihment in full public view so that Nobody else commits the same in future . They are no Lesser than Terrorists. This is the Land where we respect women but not Defame them in this way. Govt Should bring rule where Pusnishment for Rape ,sex Assaults or Molestation against women should be given Capital Punishment and this should handled by Fast track courts.

    Though India has been growing at a healthy rate but there is constant erosion of ethics and moral values in our society. Around 50% of the population is still illiterate but it alone does not result in degradation of value system because a rational person should be able to think up and identify moral values.
    Formal education as is being imparted today does not give proper importance to building the moral and ethical aspects of human personality instead the major stress is to create job-worthy individuals. Students who come out of the system are trained to work but are not trained to think. Most of the violent/criminal/anti-social incidences that have happened in our system could have been prevented if their perpetrators had
    a) A good value system
    b) A thinking mind and
    c) Thought about their actions and their implications.

    Its time for govt now to amend the law , strict and stringent action has to be taken for rapists coz INDIA is now overtaking America in the matter of crime especially RAPES. The reason behind this is LAW. The law system in INDIA is really weak. SO kindly enhance strict and stringent action against culprits(preferably SHARIA law in order to keep the environment safe). I urge the government to enforce SHARIA laws (for eg: if a person found guilty of rape then he should be stoned to death. No mercy to be granted to culprits. SHAME on these bloody insane characters. Nowadays it looks like kinship has no value in obverse of dirty SEX. Hope this culprits will be punished severely.

    I think Karnataka should not fihgt much for Kasargod and leave it to Kerala. Everyday brand "Kasargod" is in news for "bad" resons. If Kerala wants it , give it to them and instead ask for some money and invest for mlore city Devlopment. You will get blessing from the familes of policemens also. The state Govts of Karnataka cannot handle & manage crime in other peace loving cities in the state & are behind Kasargod especially in October month and on the Raajyothsava day.

    This is the fifth such incidents we are hearing from Kerala State. May be this thing came to light just because Kerala State has more Media coverage or it was happening regularly but now only came to light? Hope our Central Women Association will book their flight tickets to Kerala to investigate the issues like they did in Mangalore for pub attack. May be they are busy in Delhi, since similar incident happened there too
