Udupi: 33 Teams Vie for Top Honours as Karaval Milan Trophy Kicks off

Udupi, Dec 18: Udupi district-level limited overs cricket tournament ‘Karaval Milan Trophy -2012’ was inagurated at Government High School ground, Kolalgiri here on Sunday December 16.

The event kicked-off with a short stage programme which was inagurated by Puttu Naik, headmaster of Government High School, Kolalgiri. Charles Mascarenhas, founder president of Karaval Milan hoisted the event flag.

Chief guests Kishore Gonsalves, managing director of Kishoo's Enterprises and Agnello D’Souza, businessman from Mumbai (native from Perampalli) released a pigeon into the air to mark the inaugural.

The chief guests along with members of Karaval Milan, Dubai also released balloon to spread the message of communal harmony through sports.

Eric D'Souza, former president of Karaval Milan, Goldino D’Souza, member of Karaval Milan, Dubai and other members of Karaval Milan were present.

In all, 33 teams from across the district are participating in the event .

At the end of the day that saw some hard-fought battles on the field, New Star Crickters, Uppoor and BFC Cricketers, Hebri entered the semi-finals.

The remaining matches, including two semi-fnals and the final, will be held on December 23, followed by the closing cermony.

The event, organized by Karaval Milan, Dubai (Udupi district) is being hosted by Prerana - United Friends,Kolalgiri.
