If I have Committed Any Mistake, I Apologise: Modi

Ahmedabad, Dec 21 (PTI): Fresh from the hat-trick in Assembly polls, which pitchforked him in the BJP's prime ministerial candidates' race, Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said if he had committed any 'mistake', he seeks forgiveness from the people.

"If there has been a mistake somewhere. If I have erred somewhere, I seek apology from you, the six crore Gujaratis," Modi said in a victory speech in Hindi, aiming to reach out to a wider audience.

Modi, who has always been under attack following the 2002 post-Godhara violence, made no mention of it in his 45-minute speech.

"You have given me power. Now you also give me your blessings so that I do not commit any mistake, no one is hurt and there is no mistake by me even unknowingly. When people, who are in fact God give their blessings, there is no possibility of a mistake," the Gujarat Chief Minister said.

Analysts said Modi choosing to speak in Hindi when he has stuck to Gujrati during his entire election campaign may be signalling his national ambitions.

Taking potshots at his detractors, Modi said he does not need a certificate from anyone after "people have given me the biggest medal".

As the cheering crowd shouted "PM-PM" for Modi, the BJP leader credited his victory to the six crore Gujaratis and his party saying that if he is able to serve Gujarat and take the state to a magnificent level, it was due to the collective strength of people and his party.

Modi said he will visit Delhi on December 27 for a day."Gujarat is a role model for the elections. The entire election was fought here on the plank of development. Gujarat has endorsed the plank of development and has voted accordingly....

"This victory is not the victory of Narendra Modi but of the six crore Gujaratis and those Indians, who aspire for prosperity and development. This is a victory of all those who wish the country's good," Modi said.

First of all, congrats Mr. Modi for this hatrick. Gujarati people have chosen you again and that too for third consecutive term which shows your commitment for the people. Wish you all the best. May God bless you, keep you healthy as people need leaders like you. I was watching small documentary on Mr.Modi on Zee TV today and really impressed by his life. This man has kept family out of politics. He meets his mother only twice a year. One is on his birthday to seek his mother's blessings. His voting card is with his elder brother. Our politicians have to learn a lot of things from this man to keep politics away from family. I don't support any political party as all political parties have both plus points and negative points. BJP and NDA should unite and now I am convinced Mr. Modi can be a successful Prime Minister of India. Also, Mr. Modi is development oriented person. He is very firm on his decisions. We need strong PM like Mr. Modi for India.

You have not done any mistake Modiji. In fact you have given very good message 'SNAKE WILL BITE ONLY IF IT IS DISTURBED' to extremists. We are eager to see you taking higher post in 2014. All the best and very proud of you.

There must be something in this man which is unique from others .It is not easy for any party to come to power three times in a row.People always want change!!.I am not a big supporter of Mr.Narendra Modi or any political party/leader for that matter. In spite of the Godra incident he was able to achive this!!This shows the chief minister must have done something good for the state.
