Dammam: Vibrant 'Vaibhava' Marks 6th Anniversary of MASA

Dammam, Dec 21: MASA showcased yet again a spectacular display of talents, performances and awards with ‘Vaibhava’, on the occasion of its 6th Anniversary recently at Lailathi Hall, Dammam.
The highlights of the evening were Academic Excellency to 17 distinguished young students, Dedicated Service, Sports Championship, Internal Cricket winners, Food Festival winners, Talents Awards for drawing contest, speech contest, spelling B contest, Appreciation Awards, honoring of visiting parents, announcement of the prestigious ‘MASA Man of the Year’ award, induction of new committee, exciting raffle draw besides rocking cultural events by MASA members.
The event kicked off with a welcome note by general secretary Viraj Kumar Shetty followed by lighting the ceremonial Lamp by president Ravi Karkera, Advisory committee Head Madhav Amin, vice-president Santhosh Shetty and Excom members.
The award ceremony began immediately after reading the annual report by the general secretary. President Ravi Karkera presented dedicated service awards to Sadashiv Poojary, Vijay Naveen Kundapur, Sharat Kumar, Nagaraj Bajal, Sunil Shetty, Amjad Khan Pollya, Pradeep Kumar, Uday Kumar Sanil, Riyaz B. K., Sheikh Mohideen, Divya Praveen Shetty, Deepa Prakash Shetty, Amritha D’ Souza, Vidya Santhosh Shetty, Sumithra Pradeep Kadekar, Sujaya Ravi Karkera, Vanitha Josephine, Volga D’Sa, Nancy Vijay Kundapur and Shanti Ronald Fernandes.
Academic Awards were presented by Dr Ravi Kumar, Principal of Al Khozama International School Dammam and Arshad Anjum, Teacher Indian International School Dammam. Recipients of Academic Awards are:

Winners and runner up trophies were given for MASA Internal Cricket Tournaments by Advisory committee Head, Madhav Amin. Trophies were given for the winners of Drawing competition, Spelling B Competition and Impromptu Speech Contest in Tulu, Kannada and English held during the Medical Camp. Trophies were also given to Champions among boys and girls and the leading house (Blue House) of the Sports day held during the year. First, Second and Third Place winners of Food Festival Contests in the categories, Best Hygienic Food Stalls, Best Decorated Stalls, Best Snacks Stalls and the Best Food Stalls in Main Course were presented mementos.
Abdul Aziz Mohd Al Gattani the owner of the Auditorium was appreciated with memento in recognition of his continuous support and providing excellent facilities at the auditorium. The leading Sponsors were being felicitated with shawls in recognition of their continuous sponsorship during the year for various events. The top six sponsors of the years are Joey Fernandes of Al Manafa Transport Services, Richard D’ Silva of Arabian Cargo, Freight Forwarding and Al Zouny Transportation Trading Est, Shankar Billva, Yogish Poojary of SASP, Ibrahim Husain of Al Raqwani Co and Sadashiv Poojary of Intermodel Services.
Then it was a moment of excitement and curiosity among the members to hear about the declaration of the most Prestigious Award, the MASA Man of the Year. Speculation and the curiosity started building up when president was appreciating about the dedication and commitment of the receiver of this award. There was a thunderous applause across the auditorium when president announced Miyapadavu Gopal Shetty as MASA Man of the year 2012. Gopal Shetty received a standing ovation by the committee, all the members and guests gathered in the auditorium. It was an emotional moment for Gopal Shetty who gracefully accepted the award. While thanking the Executive committee for nominating his name for this prestigious award Gopal Shetty promised to continue his selfless service to the association and encouraged members to render their dedicated services to MASA in fulfilling its objectives of serving the noble cause.
The anchoring of entire stage proceedings were well conducted by young and charming Sunmeet Ravi Karkera.
While addressing the gathering, president Ravi Karkera thanked all the committee members for their dedicated efforts, members for their continued support and sponsors for their generous contributions which helped MASA in meeting its main objective of helping for noble cause. He also said, ‘today MASA is not only an association, but also an Institution’ because of the learning benefits received by the large number of members by some way or the other. Outgoing president wished and advised everyone to keep away their anger and ego to be happy always.
The stage was set now for display of yet another spectacular show by the talented children and adults of MASA. The Entertainment committee Head Narendra Shetty greeted the house full audience and appealed to cheer up all the participants to boost up their energy in performing their best. He introduced the Anchor Mrs. Amritha D’ Souza to conduct cultural proceedings.
Talented young Poorvi Gopal Shetty presented a classical act in her Semi Classical Dance “Shivdam”. Her graceful dance was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
Gorgeous looking Ladies group participated by Chetana Sadashiv Poojary, Suchitra Satish Bajal, Shilpa Prakash Sanil, Sumitra Pradeep Kadekar, Mahima Sadanand Poojary and Preeta Arun Bangera presented exciting and dazzling cinematic group dance. In support role as ‘krishna’ Shreya Satish Bajal was looking great.
The eye-catching solo Contemporary dance by Deeksha Naveen Bhandary was worth watching.
The stunning Fusion Dance mesmerized the audience performed by young kids, Prishita Sadashiv Poojary, Nidhi Satish Bajal, Kushi Ganesh Karkera, Sheetal Sudarshan Sanil, Larrisa George, Shradha Satish Kumar, Vioulla Vijay D’ Sa, Pratiksha Niranjan Karkera, Smriti Sadanand Poojary, Shreya Arun Bangera, Yashmita Yashwant Sanil choreographed by Nagraj Bajal.
Spoorti Sukumar Shetty, Smriti Sukumar Shetty, Twisha Prakash Shetty and Siya Dayanand Chowta presented a thrilling performance in their Bollywood Mix Masala dance sequel.
Coastal Meshup dance in traditional Marathi costume presented by Grimsy Sequeira was fabulous.
Yashwanth Sanil, Farooq Bunder, Mohammed Nooman and Prateek Poojary entertained the crowd with melodious Hindi and Kannada hit film songs and also Ibrahim Khader entertained with his hilarious proverbs and jokes.
Visiting parents were invited on the stage and felicitated with shawls by advisory committee head Madhav Amin.
The unique patriotic presentation titled ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’ played by as many as 60 young and adult artistes of MASA ‘Kudla Adventures Group’ was the best of the lot. The classic act was fully patriotic, emotional, entertaining, hilarious and extra ordinary. All participants were at their best. The entire concept was master minded by Nagraj Bajal. Dance directors were Nagraj Bajal and Archana Chittaranjan Shetty. The coordination was done by Satish Bajal and Vidyadhar Shetty. The anchoring of the entire episode by Deeksha Naveen Bhandary added flavor to the memorable event. Thrilled and stunned, the audience could not stop cheering this amazing act. The history of India, various states, different costumes, verities of cultures – all about India shown in just 40 minutes. For children and adults it was a flash back of pre-Independent India and Independent India.
Induction ceremony of new committee for the year 2013 and 2014 held after the dinner break. This was conducted by veteran Toastmasters TM Feroz Fazal and TM Vasudev Warrier. The unique kind of Induction ceremony created excitement among the audience. The installing Officer TM Vasudev Warrier declared the names of incoming new committee members lead by Dayanand Shriyan as president for the terms 2013 and 2014. new committee was installed by taking their oath and acceptance by all the members present.
Dayanand Shriyan while addressing the audience in his strong statement thanked the committee for choosing him to this challenging post and considers this as a biggest honor. He urged for supports from the outgoing committees and all the members in continuing and carrying out the hard work done by the existing committees in raising MASA flag high. He narrated an incident about how members are attached to MASA as one family. He promised to strive hard for the betterment of MASA.
Sharon Fernandes and Shalon Fernandes presented ‘Bharatanatyam’ just after the dinner break. The well coordinated classic presentation was loudly applauded by the audience.
It was a relaxing and rejoicing moment for the Audience hearing to melodious and hit numbers sung by Vanessa Saldhana, Vance Saldhana and guest singers Sajeev, Reuban and Jerry. Popular Hindi, Kannda and English numbers were played in this segment which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience along with dance by MASA kids Poorvi Gopal Shetty, Arpitha Gopal Shetty, Giselle Aranha, Dianne Monis, Robin D’Souza, Spoorti Sukumar Shetty, Smriti Sukumar Shetty, Twisha Prakash Shetty, Siya Dayanand Chowta and Venessa Saldhana.
As many as fourteen attractive Raffle prizes were drawn and handed over to lucky winners. Victor Sequeira played a lead role in announcing the Instant Raffle Draw. Puttaruaju and Arun D’ Souza with help of young children succeeded in selling large number of raffle tickets. All children were invited on the stage and rewarded with gifts for their efforts.
Gorgeous Amrita D’ Souza did a great job as Anchor in the cultural Segment. Other Key Anchors were Santhosh Shetty, Sunmeet Karkera (Stage Function) and Victor Sequeira (Raffle Draw). The Vote of thanks given by Jt. secretary Naveen Bhandary

All participants were invited on to the stage and the event concluded with singing of the national anthem by the members and guests.
