Kundapur: Kota Poojary Pays Surprise Visit to Taluk Office, Suspends Official

Kundapur, Dec 22: In the wake of complaints regarding inefficiency in the taluk office, district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary paid a surprise visit to the office on Friday December 21 and inspected the officials' work.

During his visit to the office, Poojary expressed dissatisfaction with the work done by the tahsildar.

As he had a meeting scheduled for Saturday December 22 in Madikeri, Poojary visited the office on Friday all of a sudden without informing the higher officials. He also asked the DC to send notice to the tahsildar asking him to explain the inefficiency in work.

Poojary also checked the attendance sheet of the employees during his visit. As per the information received, Poojary suspended S R Nayak, village assistant for not working efficiently and for fake recording of his presence in office. He also asked the DC to investigate the matter.

As there were frequent complaints in delay of land conversion work, Poojary promised to appoint five surveyors to get the work done quickly. Granting of funds under Kalyana Suraksha for the poor, pensions for widows and physically challenged and several other works were also pending in the office. In this regard, he asked officials to accept applications and speed up the work.

On the long queues in the ration card office, he said trained staff will be appointed soon in order to prevent long queues. He also informed that food and civil service department will soon be shifted to a building next to the police station.

Usually, very few officials are present in the taluk office, but on Friday during Poojary’s visit, all of them made it a point to be present. Even their tables were cleaned and documents were arranged neatly. This indicated that the news of the minister’s visit was known to insiders well in advance.

B Sadhashiv Prabhu, sub section officer; K Mohandas Shenoy, Kundapur municipality president; Sathish Shetty; Suchitra Umesh, Rajesh Kaveri, Manigopal among others were present.

Why did it take so long for Kota to take notice of the Taluk Office affairs in the first place..?

Any ordinary citizen in Udupi district is so familiar with the corrupt affairs of Taluk office including Kota himself, and there was no need to pay surprise visit to make all this public tamasha.

If he is serious, let him check all govt. offices from Panchayat levels to Vidhana Soudha to prove he is serious in wiping out corruption in Karnataka.

How can this be really a "surprise" visit when minister makes sure to take media and camera persons in tow to get publicity?

Also why is minister acting like a headmaster visiting offices? Minisiters should stick to policy issues and not waste time on these publicity gimmicks.

Oh Poojariji, don’t take any action against any State Government Officials since we have only five months to go for Assembly Election. Probably your party will lose few lacks of votes from State Government Officials and from their families. These Officials are habitual to this kind of attitude for many decades now. Though your intention is correct but timing is wrong.

All Govt. officer and employee must give computer training. they have to enter all documents details in computer. to track very easy.

All State govt. office must work in computer. then only we can bring changes in govt. works.

Whenever you have to go to a Govt office, whether it is DC office, Taluk office, Corporation office or RTO, you feel like as if you are an unwanted person visiting there for some favors rendered by that office. The mere look of the person you are visiting and their body language , the way they speak makes you feel as if they are doing a big favor to you. The kind of staff working in these offices itself is disgusting. Unfortunately for one simple work they make you visit them 10 times.

I agree with Irshad Shaikh, Dubai.
If Kota is genuinely interested in uplifting local govt. administration and efficieny, he can still do that by occasional "REAL SUPRISE" checks to those departments and also take action against those employees\officials who are lethargic in their duties.
Also look into the complaints of people, when they approach him.

This kind of "Surprise" checks surely had a ulterior motive behind it, as mentioned by Mr. Shaikh

R.Bhatt having probs with Tahshildar for not registering his land for some reason since then R.Bhat trying hard to transfer Tahshildar. But this Tahshildar is also a influenced guy from RSS.
Otherwise these ineffeciencys in Taluk Office are not new. Poojary could have visited Taluk office much earlier after resuming office as minister.
Common man's difficuties in Taluk office still to continue....

Mr. Poojari, if you work day and night like this also you can't remove corruption and present looting system, because it has got so many connection from all the corner, from school to panchayat, muncipality, police station, and till getting a birth / death certificate there is a corruption, this is deep rooted and interlinked with present political system, first clean ministers office where you can find big fish, which is impossible with present law and system..

Looks minister is personally calling employee to see their presence. These employee are even smart enough to bring someone & show to minister. My suggestion in every govt. department e employee should were photo ID ( Employee ID & his picture on). Some time when we visit dept. we d't know who's employee who 's customer. ID will also help to identify employee in case of complaint or Appreciation . I also suggest , employee should keep their desk & work area well organized & maintain good house keeping
