Mangalore: CPI (M) Calls for an End to 'Made Snana', Flags off Protest Walk

Mangalore, Dec 23: Communist Party of India CPI (M), Karnataka state committee held a protest against the practice of Made Snana (rolling over leftover meals in plantain leaves) in front of the DC's office here on Monday December 24.

A walk from Mangalore to Udupi for the same cause and to protest discrimination while serving mass meal at Udupi Sri Krishna Temple was also flagged off on the occasion by B Madhava, state secretary of CPI(M).

Inaugurating the programme, Sri Veerabhadra Chennamalla Swamiji of Nidumamidi Math said it is inhuman and barbaric to make the lower caste people to roll over the leftover meals eaten by upper caste Brahmins.

"Brahmins are trying to dominate the lower class people and boost slavery.  Made Snana is illogical, unscientific, inhumane and against nature. It is an agenda to keep the lower class people in slavery. It is a system to oppress and suppress the lower castes or shudras," he said.

"The communist party activists should raise their voice against practices like Made Snana, animal sacrifice and other illogical rituals that promote slavery," he said, adding that the Supreme Court had ordered status quo but not given its verdict on the matter.

Chief guest P Srinivas Rao, central committee member of CPI (M) said, "Even after 65 years of Independence we live in an uncivilized society. We comrades should think of how to stop these evil practices in society. Swami Vivekananda said ‘to serve humanity is to serve god’. Hence we should serve humanity and not support to ill practices."

B Madhava, state secretary of CPI(M), secretary of Dakshina Kannada unit Maruthi Manpade and others were present.

    It was Communist leaders (like AKG and Krishna pillai) in Kerala who fought for Right to worrship -FOR ALL HINDUS in Guruvayur Temple, Kerala. It was Communists who fought for Right to use Public Roads for ALL THE COMMUNITIES in Kerla. Those struggles were in the Forties. After 65 years of Independance they are fighting NOW in Karnataka, Andhra, TamilNadu, Orissa etc.This is a very good thing. Though Communist leaders are NOT believing in GOD, they are the one's believing in MAN. Marx has stated: "Anything related to humanity is NOT alien to me". The followers of CPIM anywhere in the world are believing in God and practising religion.

    It is not a belief. It is a blind faith put on these poor lower cast communities. If these poor people have a beilief of geeting well from sickness or any, why other people are not rolling over the left over. do they don't suffer with any sickness or problems..
    We must educate them against this inhuman blind faith. When the child eats dirt don't we stop?

    Why you peoples wasting time?
    If you have so much time to spend ., Then get justice to the girl who is been raped & murdered in Ujire. Help peoples who are suffering from Endosulfan. Instead of wasting money in doing such dramas feed the needy . Their Blessing will lead you the way u need

    when somebody says i am not a supporter of madesnaana & pankthi bedha which actually means he is against madesnaana & pankthi bedha why is he so much hurt if CPM or any organisation takes up the just cause. why does he not have the courage & conviction to fight against these Social evils himself. i had been to Hindu samojothsava and have heard a speaker say "navellaru Hindu navellaru ondu".How true are we to this statement.The practise of Pankthi bedha & Madesnaana is going against the spirit of unity amongst the hindus?. The issue here is of blind faith.There are people who argue that Brahmins also practise madesnaana but are there any community other than brahmins who eat on those Banana leaves?. i have also seen comments in this forum where people say there are social evils & practises amongst people of other religion too. The problem & evils in other religion is not a pretext to practice discrimination in our religion. we have to keep our house in order first before looking at problems in our neighbors house.it would be ideal if awareness is spread among the people about the discrimination. Banning outright will hurt the deep rooted sentiments of people. once when people realize that the water we drink & the air we breathe is the same then the people will stop this crude pracitse which is blatantly discriminatory.

    DEAR G.R. PRABHU....MADESNANA IS JUST THE PRECEST. THERE IS THIS WHOLE MAFIA HELL BENT IS FINDING FAULT WITH HINDHU RITUALS WITH THE HIDDEN AGENDA OF DEFAMING THE RELIGION. UNFORTUNETLY THEY HAVE BEEN GETTING SUPPORT FROM SOME POLITICAL PARTIES , WHOSE MAIN INTREST IS APPEASING THEM & THEIR CAUSE AND GETTING THEIR VOTES. THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED OUR OWN PEOPLE WHO WILL DO ANTHING FOR MONEY AND IF REQUIRED WILL DEFAME THEIR OWN MOTHERS. I AMNOT SUPPORTING MADESNANA HERE, BUT AGAIN ITS NOT DONE BY ANY FORCE. THE SO CALLED BRAHMINS ARE KIDNAPPING THE SO CALLED LOWER CASTE PEOPLE AND FORCING THEM TO DO MADESNANA.     No body is insisting any body to do 'Made Snana'.This is only Belief.If any body want to do roll over the Leftover meals eaten by any body, is there look out. Why political party is interfering in this. No body has forced here.there wish.

    Communist Party itself never believes in any religious sentiments or faith. So why it needs to preach others on matters of religion ? Many of disciples of Nidumaidi Math over years had turned away from the math after taking over by this swamiji, & most of time he speaks illogical. As per Lankesh Patrike, in one of reports in past, 74 schools of 124 schools where shut down, under this swamiji regime. Perhaps first he rectify his own adminstrative system of math & its school run, & then preach others.
