Udupi: Durga Cricketers, Athradi Lift Karaval Milan Cricket Trophy

Udupi, Dec 25: Durga Cricketers, Athradi Parkala won the Udupi district level cricket tournament ‘Karaval Milan Trophy -2012’ organized by Karaval Milan, Dubai(Udupi district) in association with Prerana-United Friends Kolalgiri on Sunday December 23.
New Star, Uppoor Salmara bagged runners-up spot. The ‘Karaval Milan Trophy -2012’ was inaugurated on December 16.
A grand concluding ceremony was held on Sunday December 23 evening at Kolalgiri High School ground premises.
Raghupathi Bhat, MLA, Udupi, Pramod Madhwaraj, industrialist, Malpe, Alfred D’Souza, businessman from Kolalgiri, Puttu Naik, head master, government high school, Kolalgiri, Oswald Cornelio, managing director, Professional Men's Parlour Santekatte Naveen Sequiera president Karaval Milan, Dubai, Eric D’Souza, Perampalli, ex-president of Karaval Milan, Dubai, Charles Mascarenhas, president of Karaval Milan, Santhosh Banz, Bramhavara, Wilfed Mascarenhas, Kolalgiri were present as guests during the closing ceremony.
Fr David Crasta, parish priest, St Antony Syrian Orthodox Church, Ammunje Kolalgiri presided over the closing ceremony.
Karaval Milan, Dubai donated a cheque of Rs 25,000 to 6-year-old Steevan D’Souza Havanje Kolalgiri who is suffering from severe leukemia.
The dignitaries on the dais congratulated the winners and lauded the efforts of the organizers in hosting the event. The prize distribution ceremony was also held on the occasion.

The winners of the tournament received Rs 11,111 and runners-up Rs 5,555.
Melwin Mascarenhas, chief secretary, Prerana-United Friends, Kolalgiri welcomed the gathering, Ashwin Roche, chief convener, Prerana-United Friends, Kolalgiri proposed the vote of thanks. Prashanth Shetty compered the programme.
