Mangalore, Dec 26: It was truly a moment of joy and entertainment for the inmates of six orphanages across the city as they celebrated Christmas at the premises of Fatima Retreat House here on Wednesday December 26.

It was a hearty sight as staff of Fatima Retreat House rejoiced with the children as they danced and sang along.

As many 206 children from six orphanages - 33 from Zeenath Baksh Yatim Khana, 35 each from Bhagini Samaj and Shishu Nilaya, 44 from Infant Mary's, Kulshekar, 49 from Bala Yesu Nilaya, Jeppu, 43 from Prashanth Nivas, Jeppu and two from St Antony’s Charity - had a fun day out.

The students shared the message of Christ to share and love each other, through their skits, dances and songs.

Fr Eugene Lobo, director, in his welcome address briefed about the importance of Christmas celebration. He asked the children to share things with each other amidst pain and take back happy moments when they go home.

Speaking to Daijiworld, he said the Christmas celebration with orphanage inmates is being organized for the past 10 years. "The main aim of the celebration is to share the joy of Christ's birth with the children and make them happy," he said.

"Fatima Retreat House being a place for prayer invites every person open-heartedly," he added.

As part of the celebration, games were conducted for the childrend. They were also provided with sweets and goodies by the Retreat House.

Fr Eugene Lobo welcomed the gathering while Fr Stany Miranda compered the programme.

GOD Bless these children and the priest and all others who were present there. But i would also like to add that it is so sad to see lot of seats lying vacant. If it would have been a very famous personality's function then people would have gathered in huge numbers and additional chairs would have been needed. So sad some poeple ignore GOD's children and give all their attention to film actors etc... But i really appreciate all the members who were present for this function.
