Mangalore: HJS Calls Upon Youth to Desist from Celebrating New Year

Mangalore: HJS Calls Upon Youth to Desist from Celebrating New Year

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Dec 27:
Sangeetha Prabhu of Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti on Thursday December 27 said that all should come forward to eliminate the practice of celebrating New Year on the night of December 31, and added that blind following western culture had led to increase in sexual harassment of women.

Addressing a press meet here, she said that instead of observing New Year on December 31 midnight, all Indians should celebrate New Year on Ugadi.

"On December 31, in the name of celebration many young boys and girls consume alcohol, expose themselves indecently and drive rashly and resort to other kinds of misbehaviour," she said.

"The Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti calls upon the youth to not fall prey to western culture. In Indian culture, Ugadi is celebrated on ‘Chaitra Shuddha Padya’ and is sacred. Celebrating Ugadi is advantageous as nature is at its best and it has spiritual importance also," she added.

Ramananda Gowda, convener, Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti, Ashwini Prabhu of Sanathana Samsthe, Leelavathi of HJS were present during the press meet.

This is very disgusting call by HJS. New year is celebrated throughout the world. If HJS don't want to celebrate let them stay at home and go to sleep with their lights off and not watch TV as at that particular hour everybody will be watching the celebration going on in the world at every hour, every minutes and every seconds. This is not western culture but international culture. ANYWAY WISH YOU ALL A BRIGHT AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2013.

Those who do not want to follow western culture, should not send their wards to schools who teach English and other languages. Also they should not wear any type of western clothes and should not drive any motor cars and should not drink any beverages and eat any type of food which is not Indian.
They should only wear cotton saries and dhothis and lungies and eat Ganji and Chuttney.

Really I am surprised to read/hear very venom filled sangeetha from Madaam Sangeetha. I understood from her statement/dictate now a days anybody dictate anything to anybody. Jobless ladies also want to have publicity and create problems among diverse communities at our place, especially Mangalore which was a harmonious place and civilised once not very far from my memory. These jobless people with the support of fundamentalists are trying to spoil the peace and create problem among ourselves. Please my dear friends, u r free to do ur likes within the framework of law and orderliness without disturbing neighbours/society. Don't heed to all these dictates for any reason. Let Ms Sangeetha go to Singapore with her message to help rape victim and get blessed. LASTLY SHE IS NO ONE TO TELL ME TO WHAT I HAVE TO DO AND NOT.

If u wear a black glass, the world looks black.

English language Press Board, in western culture addressing the press and preaching. Let these elders first go home and teach to their own children. Is their children are studying in English medium or Indian language medium.

Disgusting and we live in hypocrite society, double standard attitude.

QUOTE "ON DECEMBER 31, IN THE NAME OF CELEBRATION MANY YOUNG BOYS AND GIRLS CONSUME ALCOHOL, EXPOSE THEMSELVES INDECENTLY AND DRIVE RASHLY AND RESORT TO OTHER KINDS OF MISBEHAVIOUR,"
ALCOHOL IS CONSUMED BY ALL CITIZENS (IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR AGE AND GENDER) THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
THE INDIVIDUALS WHO WANT TO EXPOSE WILL NOT WAIT FOR DECEMBER 31 AND WILL DO IT AT THE OF THE HAT ANY TIME ANYWHERE.
INDULGING IN MISBEHAVIOUR AND RASH DRIVING IS HAPPENING ALMOST EVERY DAY IN MANGALORE AND INDIA. OTHERWISE CASES LIKE DELHI GANG RAPE WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AT ALL.
THE HJS INSTEAD OF PROTESTING THE NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS SHOULD TRY TO EDUCATE THE YOUTH ABOUT THE DANGERS OF ALCOHOL/DRUGS. THEY SHOULD ALSO URGE THE PARENTS TO SPEND MORE TIME (NOT ONLY DURING THE YEAR END BUT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR) WITH THEIR KIDS SO THAT THEY DO NOT INDULGE IRRESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR DUE TO PEER PRESSURE.

Nice!! two steps back from the route leading to secular democracy. So what is western about this?? the calender year ended, people are stressed and need a day to forget the hardships. We have been held hostage by these people who think they are vested with rights to police the citizens. These people have opened an outfit that will threaten all businesses and would need a cut of the profits, this is a new form of harassing. Wouldnt this be considered as threatening the society? if yes what is stopping the cops to take action?

What does she mean by following "Western culture'leads to sexual harassment??

WAKE UP!! what do the headlines read these days ? where do they take place ? in your own backyard!!

I live in western culture and there is absolutely NO harassment tolerated whether at work , home or any place. Women are treated as EQUAL at work, home and all between.

The best way is to start treating women equally starts at HOME.

    a) The woman should walk along with the man and NOT behind him.

b)The woman should sit in front seat of car along with the man and not treat him as a chauffer.

c)The woman should eat along with all family members and not after all men have eaten.

It is this INDIAN CULTURE caste/religious beliefs should be eradicated to end this menace of rapes, dowry, honor killings, sexual as well as Religous/age/ethnicity/disability harassment which is very rampant in India only.

Who has given the rights to protect the Constitution of India? India is a democratic Country & We all Indians have equal rights as you. It is our wish to celebrate New year on any day we wish. Govt. of Karnataka is giving licenses to sell liquors. If you have guts, go and ask them to ban the sale of liquors/Bars/Pubs in Karnataka. We should not trouble or disturb anybody while celebrating the New year. Come to Bangalore on 31st Dec to see how your own people celebrate the new year and stop them if you can, OK?

Funny enough every fortnight a new outfit springs up in Mangalore, calls on a Press Conference and places their stupid agenda on the table! This is the height! Enough is enough!!! It is individual decision to celebrate on 1st of Jan. or on Ugadi. Every day is New Year day. But, all over the world Julius Calender is followed for all events/prorammes/itineraries/marriages of all casts in which the new calender year starts on 1st January and it is a NEW year day. When they got drunk under the influence of alcohol they forget everything they dont think it is his own mother and sister. Better to shut down these wineshops on 31st night.

Why do you people wake up at the time New Year and Valentine's day. India is a Globalized country and the Westerners are transferring their culture to India and they are adapting Indian culture.

Instead of telling people not to celebrate New Year, why not adivse bars, pubs, hotels and clubs to close on 31st night. These are the main venues where ugly, untoward incidents happen.

    Madam Sangeeta,
Do something good for the youth where they get benifit, young boys and girls consume alcohol, expose themselves indecently and drive rashly and resort to other kinds of misbehaviour will happen other than new year also. If the calender is western why we following it, why you can't change it. Please don't divide the society, I think India is one of best country when it comes to humanity and helping nature, please don't spoil it on the name of religion.

Even though all these so called parivars and sanghs are not in a position to add any values to the society, they are very good in spoiling the harmony by adding their poison into young minds.

Do you all think that you all are custodians of Indian culture.

Sangeeta Prabhu, India is a free country and freedom to live as per one's desire is the primary right of every citizen.

DO NOT exaggerate regarding the behaviour of youngsters and do not force your fascist idealogy on people with the help of the sangh henchmen.
