Kasargod, Dec 28: In a fresh development in the Kumble gang-rape case, the police on Friday December 28 arrested three persons from Kanhangad. All three, however, denied raping the girl.

The arrested are Muhammed Kunhi alias Asgar (24), Hussain (26) and Unais (35), all three from Uduma. They were caught on allegations of raping an 18-year-old girl from Kanyana in Bantwal on December 24.

The police, who had earlier said that the girl had been gang-raped by seven persons including the three arrested, said on Friday that during interrogation, the three men had admitted to knowing the girl but denied raping her.

It is learnt that during the interrogation, the accused said that they came to know the girl when they met her for the first time at a mall in Mangalore on December 20. She reportedly asked them to drop her at the place where she worked. They took her in their car and on the way, stopped at a hotel for food. Mohammed Kunhi introduced himself as Asgar. When he asked the girl her mobile number, she replied that she did not have a cell phone.

Mohammed Kunhi then gave his own number to the girl and told her that he was from Uppala. The men then dropped her at the place where she was employed and went on their way to Kasargod.

On December 24, Kunhi received a call on his mobile from a coin booth number. It was from the girl. She told him that she was in Uppala and asked where he was. Soon after, the three men came in a car and picked her up, and all four of them went to the water park in Mangalore, and left for Uppala after a while.

On reaching Uppala, the girl reportedly said that she wanted to visit a relative's house in Kadapura, Kumble and asked them to drop her at the railway station, from where she planned to take an auto to the relative's house. The accused told the police that it was at the auto rickshaw stand that Ganesh, another accused who was arrested on Thursday December 27, took her in his auto and raped her at an isolated spot.

The three of them said that they came to know of the allegations against them only after the media flashed the news of the rape the next day. They told the police that as they were getting too many calls, they switched off their mobile phones, which they admitted was a wrong thing to do.

The police arrested the three from Kanhangad following a tip-off. They will be subjected to further interrogation, the police have said.

After a thorough Investigation the culprit should be punished to the maximum extent allowed as per IPC section, also if it is a false allegation the lady should be punished 7 times more severely for tarnishing the Characters of men and that would be a appropriate justice so women will not misuse the Rape allegations as a form of punishing men for punitive reasons as the present IPC 498A (Why supreme court calls 498a as "Legal Terrorism") all by women now even Rape is added than all men will be in Jail or castrated because a woman complained, Woman's complaints are always heard and made to a mega issue without trying to know the truth all jump the gun, everyone of the mens attire has been worn by women But when some Man does it , he is called a cross dresser actually since all the rights of men are taken way, slowly men will start to transform some started to become gays, alcoholics, drug abusers and now they slowly have degenerated to be Women beaters and Rapists, very soon it will be Serial Killers, as Men's hope are dashed and broken to pieces but as always it is the innocents who will always suffer

Why pictures of accused published in some cases and are kept secret in many cases ? Is it necessary to publish these young mens pictures before their guilt is proven ? May be the female taking advantage of present rape crisis in India.

What if they are really innocent and this lady is fabricating a long winding story just to take revenge or protect herself, these days it is dangerous to help any women because she will scream rape just to get sympathy which is available because they ask for Gender equality then they still want to treated like weaker sex what a hypocrites!

Police should publish the culprits names only after medical report is released. there is a chance that women will misuse the "rape" remarks against innocent men.

We in India have a extremely bad attitude towards women. On the surface at the tip of our tongue we are idealistic and shower respect and praise on women. But deep inside and when our guards are down it is not really very good. At a time when women are being empowered (highest graduating percentage, top officials in public and private sectors, litterateurs, sportswomen) it is time, we dig deep into our minds for a change of mindset. Most importantly, abuse of any kind on women must not be tolerated and strict action including death sentences (as a deterrent) must be given. In the process it is quite possible that some innocents will also suffer, but until a change in mindset is evident, this kind of zero tolerance must be put in place instead of the current double talk of improving security, more police personnel, more CCTVs. They won't suffice as they are measures treating the symptom and not the cause of the disease.

THIEF WILL NEVER EVER AGREE THAT HE HAS STOLEN UNTIL PROVEN. BUT THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED AS PROVIDENCE WHICH MANY WILL BELIEVE WILL TAKE ACTION.
ASGAR YOU HAD A GO AT THE FLESH IN A WRONG WAY AND YOU HAVE SHARED YOUR CRIME IN A GRUESOME WAY.
OWN UP YOUR CRIME AND SPEND TIME BEHIND AS LONG AS IT TAKES.
OR ELSE HUMANITY WILL TAKE YOUR LIFE AND YOUR FRIENDS AS THEY ARE QUITE FED UP.
ANY LAWYER DARING TO TAKE UP YOUR CASE MUST BE ASHAMED THE FOOD THAT HE EATS.

If we buy their story for a moment the following questions are unanswered

    1) why they took the girl in a car from the mall and in between stopped for food(intention?)
    2) Why these trios pick upped her in Uppala and taken her to water Park in Mangalore?
In both cases their actions and intentions were questionable and deliberately hatched a plan to harm the girl. Now police are interrogating the accused and we were not heard from her employer which could more light on the incident.Apart from that CCTV of mall could helpful in investigating the incident.SYSTEM Should take more serious in this regard as we are hearing such ugly incidents in Karnataka frequently.
