Dear all, this is to inform you all that Santosh Kumar is employed in my company. He is a very honest person and handles all the accounts and sensitive matters of the company. And also he handles all the 65 passports of the staff of my company and is the only person other than me having access to the safe locker. It is only by mistake Santhosh picked up the wrong passport as he has all the passports of the staff. I am still surprised how he could pass all the checks at Dubai airport without the mistake being identified. When Santosh and the immigration authorities called me from bajpe airport for clarification, they were satisfied he was innocent and told me that to follow procedure, they will have to report to the police. But next day I was surprised to see the news that the airport authorities had caught a person travelling on another persons passport, where as the truth is Santosh had gone and informed the immigration officers about his mistake and foolishness. Now Santosh is out on bail, but has to fight a long legal battle before coming back to Dubai. We have taken care of all the legal procedures in Dubai, but I don't know how long it will take to clear the maters in India. Santosh, don't worry, we are all with you, as we know that you are honest and innocent. You take good care of the company matters, it's high time you take good care of your personal matters too.

When Santhosh Kumar check in at Dubai airport looks like the clerk at the luggage counter was in deep sleep. the ticket name and passport names are always checked at the chekin counter in all counters throughout the world. I would Blame the Dubai Checking in counter clerk for this Blunder.

In GCC airports, the immigration officers normally verify the passport holder's visa or residency data to ascertain whether he is blacklisted or prohibited from travelling abroad. They don't see who is who. There are instances where even Pakistanis have travelled on Indian passports. Immigration authorities in India need to be extra cautious.

    Dear All,
I Personally wish to thank Mr. Frigate D' Souza for his comment Below and all the comments that have followed that.

I too personally know Mr. Santhosh and could vow for his honesty and background. He is a real hard worker, honest to the core, Works for a very reputed firm in Dubai. His employers whom I know very well have confirmed the sequence of events as narrated by Mr. Frigate D' Souza.
I have also heard from the co-passengers of this flight that Santhosh had personally gone to the immigration officer and narrated his mistake and they were very sorry for him but had to follow procedures since he had entered the country with a wrong passport.
All of us are human and its only humane to make mistakes and not only Santhosh but a host of other authorities at the airport, DNATA, Airlines, Immigration and others should be attributed to all of them. Santhosh Has now under arrest at Mangalore Airport Police Station and pray that his bail plea is heard earnestly and released.

I would like to pray that an innocent and good person should not have to go through the turmoils of our policing / judicial system and due cognizance is given the mistake committed. Lastly again I re-iterate and vouch for his conduct and character at any forum / process.

I think to avoid these type of frauds in future the Indian Government must consider putting the fingerprint and Iris scan details also in the passport so that they can checked simultaneously along with the name and photo that are available in the passport.Nowadays all airports are equipped with these two scanners and this will ensure that the people travelling with fraudulent or fake passport are detected immediately and put behind bars ensuring safety to other passengers as well.

I correct myself if I was wrong as FRIGATE DSOUZA knows the guy personnelly, may be he himself picked the wrong passport from his room. My version of passport mess up was according to what my friend's version wat he told me or he or I might have understood, that his company handed over wrong passport and that he(my friend) was trying to contact this company(or may be Dayanand) from Mangalore, but in vain.

But yes, he was not caught but he himself went to Emmigration and told his plight. He was only detained. The big mistake by flight handling service in Dubai airport. Ai-Exp cannot be blamed fully as this work is done by Dnata in Dubai not directly by Air India. I hope he is released now but may have to run around as per the procedure his passport should be submitted to the court to be released.

Dear Guys..before jumping to conclusions..this poor guy did not try to pass the emmigration with wrong passport,he himself surrendered. He was handed over his passport & ticket at the last moment by his company which is usual practice here in Dubai. The mistake happend in series one by one first from his company who gave him the wrong passport of another collegue of his, according to this guy who told his story to my friend who was in same flight return to Dubai and knew the emmigration officials in Mlore and tried to help this guy by getting in touch with his office in Dubai. The second mistake happend by this Santhosh who dint bother open his passport even once not anticipating what all can happen. Infact he had a right ticket with his name and passport number mentioned clearly which he showed to my friend. The big mistake has happend with the dnata people managing AI-Exp ticketgin in terminal 2 did not realise that the passport number and name in the ticket did not match the carrying passport. Dubai emmigration also may be kind of ignored the face recognistion, simply swiped and stamped the passport Exit as the passport dint have any problem. Santhosh relised his mistake only in the flight when he was about to fill the Diembarkation form. Upon arriving in Mlore he directly went to emmigration officials to explain his situation & was not caught trying to pass emmigration as the news says.

As per the latest news yesterday his original passport was on the way on a day flight to Mlore after hsi company rectified the mistake, however his holidays are messed up as he has to run around court now to get his passport relased as it will be handed over there. In middle of all this another victim is this poor Dayanand who will have to pay his precious time for no mistake of his.
Not all are Indian Embassy of Kasargod passport holders.

Santhosh is innocent. People please do not comment anything and everything without knowing the real fact. Everyone goes through this situation everyday in life, but in his case it was his passport that he left behind. It was the excitement of seeing his family after a gap of 1.5 years. Mr. Sachidanand please think twice before commenting about any innocent person. If you are so keen in writing comments please write about the people who really commit the crime. Tomorrow even you would face the same situation, you would realize then. And Mr. Amin you need to think practically before you comment. Thank you Mr. Frigate for explaining the entire situation. I request daijiworld to put up the correct news again in couple of days when Santhosh is d as innocent by the law. It would be a win for justice!

I Agree with Mr. FRIGATE DESOUZAs' comments on Mr. Santhos character.
But I have some questions anyone can answer:
    1. Before issuing the boarding pass the concerned authorities are thoroughly checking the Passport and the Ticket. If they are not comparing each other they will not issue the BP.
    2. If Mr. Santhosh booked a ticket in his name, then how he is traveling with another's passport.
    3. Dubai Immigration authorities are having e-system, when the passenger stands in front of them the e-system is comparing the photo on the passport.
    4. OK. When he got the boarding pass in another’s name, then why he immediately made awareness of the mistake to the concerned in Dubai itself.
    5. Now a days in Duabi Airport, before entering to the Aircraft there will be another checking with the passport and BP, then how he entered.
    6. So many questions…..

I always have bad experience with Airlines staff I just do not know how many times my bags have failed to arrive Now when ever I am delayed coming out of the Airport my family knows that I have lost my luggage and recently traveling in a budget airlines The staff issued me a different boarding card with which I had to travel to Delhi instead of Mumbai on some one else's name , Fortunately I realised this blunder and informed the airport authorities and re issued the boarding card but then again my Baggage was misplaced as usual, Moral is always check your personal documents if required 100 times as someones mistake can cause you grievous harm in the form of unwanted publicity and then People who are they to laugh at you for each mistake you do!

I KNOW MR. SANTHOSH KUMAR VERY WELL. HE IS FROM A POOR FAMILY. AND A VERY NICE BOY.
HE IS REALLY INNOCENT. THIS MISTAKE IS DONE DUE TO OVERSIGHT. HE HANDLES ACCOUNTS IN A DUBAI BASED COMPANY.
HE CAME ON A HOLIDAY TRIP TO MANGALORE TO MEET HIS FAMILY. FORTUNATELY IN A HURRY INSTEAD OF PUTTING HIS PASSPORT IN HIS BAG BY OVERSIGHT HE HAS PUT HIS ROOMMATES PASPORT WHO IS WORKING IN THE SAME COMPANY AS BOTH PASSPORTS WHERE LYING TOGETHER. HE NOTICED IT WHILE LANDING THE FLIGHT AT BAJPE AIRPORT AND IMMEDIATELY HE REPORTED THE MATTER TO THE CONCERNED OFFICER OF THE AIRPORT THE MISTKE DONE BY HIM.
BUT I COULD SEE THE NEWS IN THE DAILY PAPERS AND IN DAIJI WORLD NEWS SAYING THAT HE WAS COUGHT BY THE MANGALORE AIPORT AUTHORITIES.
IT IS NOT TRUE. THE ACTUAL FACT IS HE HAS ADMITTED HIS MISTAKE DONE BY OVERSIGHT BEFORE THE AIRPORT AUTORITIES SOON AFTER THE LANDING OF THE FLIGHT AT BAJPE AIRPORT AND THE AIRPORT AUTHORITIES KNOWING THAT THE PERSON IS INNOCENT AND THE MISTAKE IS DONE BY OVERSIGNT WERE KIND ENOUGH TO HANDVER HIS LUGGUAGE TO HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN WHO WERE ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THE ARRIVAL OF HER HUSBAND/FATHER WHILE THEY RETAINED SANTHOSH BACK TO COMPLETE
    SOME LEGAL FORMALITIES.
HENCE I REQUEST THE CONCERNED AUTHORITES TO CONDONE HIS MISTAKE AND RELIEVE HIM FROM ALL THE LEGAL
ACTION SOON AFTER HIS PASSPORT REACHES TO THE CONCERNED AUTHORITIES. BUT IT IS VERY SURPRISING WHY THE DUBAI AIRPORT AUTHORITIES HAVE NOT NOTICED THE FACT. IN CASE THEY HAD NOTICED THE SAME THEN THE MATTER WOULD HAVE SOLVED THERE ITSELF. ANY WAY HOPE FOR THE BEST.

It is easy to comment. No body knows the pain of Santhosh. It is his bad time. Guy's don't think that you will not make such a mistake. Any way he is in Mangalore, that is good news for him. To understand the pain of Gulf workers, please watch Maleyalam movie "Qaddama".

Dubai immigration is manned by local Arabs, who most of the times just go through the documents without looking or asking any questions to the bearer. They just verify whether the passport is genuine & stamp exit seal, but they are caught when landing in any Indian Airports as they scrutinize both the document & persons who bears them.

Santhosh might have thought that it’s like Konkan Railway Journey but surprisingly, even after adopting World class passport Scanning facility at Dubai International Airport, person was allowed to travel. May be Dubai Immigration thought that outgoing is free since he is not trouble making by staying in Dubai
