Mangalore: Public Thrashes Duo for Illegal Transportation of Cattle

Mangalore, Dec 30: Two persons allegedly planning to transport cattle illegally were beaten up by the public near Besant College here on Sunday December 29.

Basheer (22) and Sattar (23), residents of Kaup were spotted by the traffic police as they passed  Nantoor from Padil in their Scorpio.

The vehicle arose suspicion as it was travelling at a high speed and also because of its registeration number that read KA-38-MC-777. When the traffic police tried to stop the car, the duo sped off.

The police control room was alerted and the car was stopped near Besant College. A crowd gathered  and thrashed Basheer and Sattar, and also smashed the car.

It is said that the backseat of the car had been removed, raising suspicion that the duo had planned to transport cattle. Ropes and other equipment used in cattle transportation were also found in the car. The police also recovered two rods.

The duo had earlier been caught for transporting cattle illegally at Suratkal. In fact, one of them was released from jail only a few days ago.

Kadri police have registered a case.

    To - Jeevan -Mangalore
Your comments on the basis of speculations. You too was not present at the time of incident. Being in Mangalore or any where else, comments are given on the News. And now answer to your questions - May be they seen the BDs with the trafic police. Boys must have sensed that they will be hammered by the BDs, that's why they must have driving at the high speed. At Beasent College vehicle was stopped and searched. then why did the police handed them to the public? (BD). How did BD reached the spot? Just because there was a rope and rods found in the vehicle, they were charged in cattle transport. Why rope and rod cannot be used for any other purpose? and even if they transport the cattle, is it against the law? Can't transport their own domesticated cattle?

    Dear Jeevan,
I have an answer for your question you are repeatedly posting. Yes these two people are wrong as they did not stop the vehicle upon stopping. But we have law and judiciary in our country, who are these goons to take law into their hand. Thrashing somebody is a bigger offence than not stopping the vehicle.
Why police is not taking any action against the people who are responsible for beating. Can you answer my question. But I have an answer too. The answer is Coastal district police is completely saffronised and they are wearing a khaki chaddi beneath their uniform.

The people of coastal districts have no hope that the police would be able to maintain the law and order effectively. They do not have any rule book nor do they want to be accountable to the civil society. Seeing the developments in the coastal district one has to conclude that the police is completely saffronised. They just want to dance to the tune of their saffron masters. Otherwise how come BD goons thrashing two people in presence of police, but the police became just the spectator.

Without proof, only on speculation police accused and public beat-up the two youngsters. But when it comes to the real beating of goondas who molested the young girls at Padil resort (Morning mist), no one had come forward, even to raise their voice at the time of incident. Not even the police used their lathis on the goondas. Young girls are molested and raped by the men everyday, and sad, there was not a single voice is raised against these men. But here on false information, police & public show there heroism. Wha!!!!! Mangalore !!!

It is really unfortunate that the people are taking the law on to their hands and acting like warlords. I have one question, why did these guys flee seeing the cops. That is onething i have not understood.
People had no rights to throw stones at a vehicle and beat up people. What happened to the pillar stone of judiciary " Innocent till proven guilty in the court of law". This incident has brought shame to our land. People would not say the name of the miscreants they will say people of Mangalore on a news channel which includes all of us. It is a matter of shame. This incident has brought us down from elite and educated to tribal and illiterate. I request all folks not to get polarized by such incidents, as that is exactly what the politicians irrespective of the party lines want from this situation. I hope the greater good would prevail and we can be always be the best.

The apt title to this article is "police stop convicted illegal cattle traders and offer them to public for justice at Beasent". But the interesting question is HOW DID PUBLIC GET THIS MUCH INFORMATION IN SUCH A SHORT TIME TO ELICIT THIS JUSTICE? Because the process would need (a) correct identification of occupants of the vehicle, (b) knowing their correct intention (c) accuracy of the above information unless ofcourse provided by the police themselves to the gathered public.

Whats wrong with Mangalorians? MAD ? Barbarians? Everywhere crime! Why police can't handle the issue? I hope and pray from my heart that Mangalore city might get purged by wrath of God Almighty and our people straighten up. There is No use of Law and order, everything is out of order and No one is trust worthy.I feel coming days God will severely Judge this wicked city and bring order and peace that is most needed. Our city is no more safe,We can't even walk on the road, sit in the coffee shop with family, enjoy peaceful beach or park with kids.I feel Mumbai is much safer than Mangalore. Where is Mangalore city that loved peace, safety, good fellow ship and harmony?

I agreed that In Mangalore Bhajrangis and Rama Sena more powerful than Police Force they can do anything, even though Basheer and Sattar allegedly planning to transport cattle illegally but they are not rapist or murderer then what is the mangalore Police are doing they cant catch and punish those people, why public is beating those in front of the police, Who is given the permission to beat them ,punish those public immediately ,then shame on traffic police better police go and collect hafta and kill some innocents, sometimes Karnataka police is doing well but don’t give the chance to public (Bhajrangis and Rama Sena ) to take the power in hand.

I do not agree with this high handedness of the crowd to thrash the duo only on speculation that they intended to carry cattle in that vehicle. If they were caught carrying cattle, then it was a different matter.
Even though they were apprehended earlier for cattle transporting, did the crowd catch them that time.
Police should catch those who beat up these two guys - people have no right to beat up anyone - they can only hand over the suspected cattle transporter\s to the police.

Tomorrow if someone beats anyone of the crowd on suspicion and speculation of doing something wrong, will anyone tolerate the Act.

Public should not take law in hands and involve in violence thrashing of the suspected with pre notions in the mind that they are doing illegal activities. This is the clear negligent by the police who allowed such violence. There is no proof of cattle in the vehicle , just for possessing rope and rod , thrashing is not justified. Book them under law and let hon court decide the punishment.

Goondaraj under BJP rule. There is no place for law of the land, the police force and the judiciary. Public are authorised to take law into their own hands. So why should be blame the rapists of Delhi???

If public thrash them then what about police. Why we need police department??? These public can thrash only those who transporting the cattle, if they have guts or dare let them fight against the rape victim, today many innocent and poor girls are rape victims from years but still they did not get justice till now. Let these public fight for good cause instead of such cheap things

This is really horrific. How can they bash these 2 young lads in the pretex saying that they are carrying illeagal cattle meat.
IN their scorpio, there is no proof they are transporting illegal cattle. Then why? Their vehicle has been damaged and who will bear the loss? Are the people are jealous because they own scropio vehicle?
There might be enemies either biz rivalry or personal level. Enemy will create more enemies. One thing is sure, every day is not Sunday. Thou u sow, thou u will reap.
