Kundapur: I Quit BJP over Insult to My People, will Think of Next Step - Halady

Kundapur: I Quit BJP over Insult to My People, will Think of Next Step - Halady

Silvester D'Souza
Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (DV)

Kundapur, Jan 1: Days after resigning from BJP's primary membership, former Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas is busy contemplating a new action plan for 2013.

On July 17 this year, Halady resigned from the post of MLA after he was denied a cabinet berth in the Shettar government after being promised one. He followed it up with his resignation from the party on December 24. On December 27, he received a letter from the BJP accepting his resignation.

Over the past 12 years as a legislator, he has been involved in several social work and welfare activities that have won him huge support from the people of Kundapur.

Speaking to Daijiworld, he said that he has been involved in rendering public service since his early days and hopes to continue the same.

"I have always been in favour of righteousness. I hope that the people of Kundapur still have trust in me. I wish to serve in the political field and keep away from caste politics," he said.

On the circumstances that led to his departure from BJP, first as MLA and then as its member, he clarified, "No one harassed me politically or socially. I resigned from BJP not because of any 'insult' to me, nor for being denied ministerial berth, but for the insult to the people of my constituency. I walked out from BJP as that is what my constituency people desired, and even my next decision in forthcoming will depend on them," he said.

He rubbished talks about his possible sabbatical from politics, and said, "I will never resign from politics as I have certain social responsibility. Whatever decision I take affects my constituency people, and hence my future decisions will be responsible ones."

There have been rumours that Halady might join either KJP or Congress. However, he declined from commenting on the issue, saying, "I cannot keep on changing my decisions like other leaders, and hence I need time to think over this matter. I hope that all will be well in this new year."

Regarding groupism in the Udupi district politics that literally split the party into Halady supporters and the rest, even leading to postponement of ZP elections, he said, "I am firm in my decision; I will not indulge in groupism in politics. Every zilla panchayat member won through fair election. Only they have the right to select the president and the vice-president of zilla panchayat, and not me. I will not interfere in this issue."

Dear Ismail ji & Sharat Ji,
It is waste of time and energy just arguing on ability and talents of future Prime Minister. Neither Congress officially projected Rahul Gandhi as future Prime Minister nor BJP projected Modi as their prime Ministerial candidate. Out of 65 years rule, BJP too ruled for about 6 years and I believe no difference. Both Congress & BJP are corrupt (aik se badker aik). Let us not vote any party, but the candidate who is able, who can give able governance & work for peace and harmony between all communities.
It is not always right that a person with good presentation and communication skill is an able leader. Though Man Mohan Singh very soft natured and quite, he is responsible for all the financial reforms that liberalized India’s economy after he took charge as finance Minister in 1991. Our foreign currency reserve had literally disappeared and India was in a verge of bankruptcy and nation faced an acute collapse of its Economy. The foreign exchange reserves were not more than a billion dollar that roughly equal to two weeks of imports.
Our present Prime Minister understands the finance and economics better than all of us. The Forbs placed him on 19th rank of world’s most powerful leaders described him as the architect of India’s economic reforms,

Ismail Perinje..i would have answered your question, but you dint answer to my point and you seemd to be answering some BJP supportors otherwise, i dont know for what reason you got Shettar into the topic, i dint say jai jai shettar or BJP first of all. My question or comments were that isent there more deserving guys in Congress than the SURNAME family or that the PM chair went out of the house only because at that time there were no active politicians in the house. I am talking about PM chair and you are comparing it to some bloody joker who is playing politics with 17% Ligaayat backing and stuff. So this discussion is going nowere as usual and I rest my case.

Dear Mr Sharath....You are asking about merit of the politician!!!Come on yar..What merit has existing politicians of India carrying?A thick skin, talkative nature,in fact should be corrupt and how to know divide and rule policy. You are talking about RAHUL GANDHI....yeah, he has been AICC General Secretary for quite long time, extensively toured every nook and corner of INDIA and if he want, could be number two in the cabinet but waiting his turn patiently.Nobody forces leadership in democracy.People's mandate is final.CM or PM are not elected in fact ed be it in BJP/Congress/or any political parties in India.it is only formality to fool the public that certain parties are following internal democracy. PranbDA, once deserted Congress to become member of CHEDDY/REDDY congress!Yet, Party gave him enough responsibilities and FYI, he might be won with popular votes once or twice in his entire political career and Congress made MP of RS time time.AK.CHIDU/MMS can bring MPS to Congress kitty ?Politics is number game and Charismatic leaders will be given priority and that is the precedent of Indian politics. It is like Yeddy versus Shettar!! Can Shettar take BJP to power in Karnataka?

Dear Ismailji..One thing I should agree about what our Dinesh Poojary said about the circumstances which led to non-Gandhi clan PM's. Once our dear president Pranab Da tried to cross the gandhi's Lakshman rekha after the assasination of Indira gandhi & Rajiv Gandhi made him pay price and it took him sometime to enter 10 Janpath again . Of the 13 PM's of independent India 4 term was for this one fly a vooping 25% and now they are planning for the 5th & may be sixt in the form of Robber vadra. Wasnt there ny other experienced deserving candidates then or for future?. one thing is true, in the past the well experiences congress politicians were busy in doing tactics to solve this fly's involvement in various scams like Bofors, may be they missed out the time in between this.

Can you please explain us the "Merit" Status of your would be PM Rahul Gandhi compared to the carrier of MMS, P Chidambaram, A K Antony, etc.. is it that in congress language "surname" means Merit ???

I guess you are trying to fool people and tryign to make them believe somethign whcih you think is true. PM is not elected in congress, he is ed by ...you know whom, & you also know what is the minimum qualifications he/she needs..if not surname its remote control.

So it is finally good news that this useless man has quit BJP. We being educated common people, don't need him to attend our functions nor his kind heart for votes.

We need a GEM like KOTA SHRINIVASA POOJARY who works for the people and the public. KSP has shown what he is in just 6 months. People have lot respect for him. He has brought many projects to our district in short span of time and he is fighting against corrupt officials in Taluk office, district office etc.

So BJP has honoured CAPABLE CANDIDATE KSP with ministerial berth. Hats off to BJP for giving us good candidate.

PM post was given to OTHERS when no candidate was available in GANDHI FAMILY.

    For Example:

    1. Sonia Gandhi was all set to occupy PM chair in 2004. But country opposed as she is VIDESHI. Helpless Sonia made MMS as PM.

    2. PVN Rao was made PM after Rajiv Gandhi died and when no candidate was available in Gandhi family. Sonia had not enetered politics then.

When congress had no majority it supported third candidates from outside.

Rahu Gandhi is projcted as PM. Do you call it on MERIT basis? Don't fool people here man.

Don't fool the people always.Who did tell you PM always reserved for Gandhi family?

Who is Man Mohan Singh(2 times)
    Who is Narasimha Rao
    who is Lal Bahaddur Shastri
    who is Indra Kumar Gujral
    who is Deve Gowda?
who is Chandra shekar........(last three not belong to Congress but Congress supported inside or outside)

If Gandhi family occupied the coveted post, it is sheer on merit.By the by out of sixty plus years what is the amount of years Gandhi PM ruled India? In democracy it is people who decides and it is not your blah blah.If you believe in democracy( I doubt),I think there is no room for objections for peopl's mandate. As you said Kind hearted and Corrupt free people(HALADY SRINIVAS SHETTY) not convenient in BJP and that indeed applies for you also....

@ Dinesh Poojary, Kundapura/Bengaluru – “Attending Social Ceremonies… etc.” I do agree. Our Kundapura is very much unfortunate to have ex-MLA & Current MP having similar nature.

Halady spent maximum time impressing common man via these kinds of activities. Forcefulness or aggressiveness is totally missing and also forgotten primary responsibility. Not even bother join (accompany) ministers during their Kundapura visit, not attended many govt related inauguration function etc. So he stood always away from the media. Never took chance to raise voice against – Degraded Kundapura Railway Station conversion of SH52 (1 & only state highway of Kundapura) into 4 lane road is longstanding backlog, surrounding bridges Kodi/Anagalli etc. etc.

Our MP is also doing more or less similar thing except media savvy, frequently giving statements and attending all social gathering functions wherever possible. One remarkable thing done to Kundapura so far is got sanctioning of Fly-Over-Bridge to Kundapura at Shastri Circle (This is news published only in Udavayavani Daily - none of other media source - quite surprising!!). Spent quite few months along with Muniyappa & shared same stage many times – But could’nt managed to do anything for Kundapura Railway Station.

We really need Aggressive Politicians… Sad to say that there is no choice also!!

    Dear All

Udupi district is blessed with at least 2 good politicians.
Irrespective of political party they represented, they did not hurt sentiments of the people belong to any party, religion and caste. They helped every person come to them seeking help.

They are Koti and Chennayya of Udupi District. Mr. Jayaprakash Hedge and Mr.Haladay Srinivas never won election because of the party they represented but by the people they represented.

Irrespective of the Party Mr.Halady Srinivas join, it is 200% sure that he will win next MLA election.

His record shows, he had even defeated Mr.Jayaprakash Hegde once.

Somebody commenting that he has no contribution apart from "Attending marraiges, griha pravesha, upanayana, functions, events" shows helplessness and frustration after loosing him from their party.

Just prey to God Mr. JP and Mr.HS join hands politically to bring golden ear of politics around Bramhavar and Kundapur.

I would have commented about HALADI if media published article about him when he was with BJP. He is kind hearted person, but in congress no such kind of people are found.

I agree BJP did injustice for him. That is BJP's fault. But it happens in politics. Could you explain me why PM chair is always reserved for GANDHI FAMILY in congress. Don't you think it is injustice for fellow eligible candidate? That does not happen in BJP, OK!

BJP is kind hearted for the people of the state, not for the extremists. So it is not applicable for you. In UDUPI ZP/TP BJP won in large. Congress white washed ! The same treatment is pending for congress by 6.5 crore kannadigas in next assembly election. You are in KSA, you dn't know the situation here. You always want your corrupt party!!

Kalladka Prabhakara Bhat has to own responsibility for the whole issue concering Shetty's exit from BJP.Though I do not support any political party of today as all people are corrupt,we should respect people like Shetty who is non corrupt and has mass followers in Kundapura. If he joins JDS or KJP it does not make big difference.Let him join Congress and work with Sri JP Hegde and defeat BJP and teach a lesson for people like Bhat of Kalladka who always plays political mischieves. Those groups played a major role in JP Hegde's victory should also do the same trick here also for Mr.Shetty.RV Deshpande should take note of the event and plung into action as has been done in the case of JP Hegde.
