Kasargod: Illegal Pan Masala Products Worth Rs 1 Crore Seized

Kasargod, Jan 4: Checkpost officials of Manjeshwar-Vamanjoor on Thursday January 3 caught hold of a container truck which was illegally transporting pan masala products worth Rs 1 crore.
In this regard, the driver and the cleaner of the truck are taken into custody. They are identified as driver Harshad (34) and cleaner Tahir (24), both hailing from Haryana.
As per the information received, the pan masala products were to be transported to Kochi from Haryana.
While checking the container, illegal transportation came to light. The pan masala product was labelled 'Kalleap' as its brand name.
Seven tons of pan masala products in 35 containers were seized.
The arrested and the products were handed over to Manjeshwar police for further investigation.
It may be mentioned here that pan masala products are banned in Kerala.
