Wish I could have Saved her, says Delhi Gang-rape Victim's Friend

New Delhi, Jan 4 (IANS): Breaking his silence for the first time, the Delhi gang-rape victim's friend said he wished he could have saved the 23-year-old physiotherapist trainee, who was brutally tortured by six people in a moving bus.

"I wish I could have saved her," the friend, who was with the young woman on the fateful night, told Zee News.

The channel also identified him as Avaindra Pratap Pandey.

The 28-year-old, who is a software engineer, said that no one came forward to help them as they were dumped on the roadside semi-clad and bloodied.

"We were lying in the cold night for 20 minutes. We had no clothes. Many cars and auto-rickshaws came and passed by us but no one stopped to offer us help. Even though I was crying for help," he said.

He also blamed police and hospital authorities.

"Three PCR (Police Control Room vans) came and they left. In the hospital, no one even thought of giving us a quilt," he added.

Recounting the brutal attack, the young man said the attackers also tried to "crush" them under the wheels of the bus.

The young woman was tortured and gang-raped by six men in the moving bus on Dec 16. She was stripped, robbed and then thrown off the bus on the roadside alongwith her friend on the cold December night.

She was taken to a Singapore hospital where she died Dec 29. She was quietly cremated on Dec 30. All the six men, including a juvenille, are now in police custody.

Because in India maximum people follow & try to command on other and give the instruction only.

    Do?
Shouldn’t be like that? Shouldn’t be like this?
Could have been done like this? Could have been done like that?

No body will come forward to say I will do!
No body will show if should not be like that and this then How?

This instruction and command on other big problem madam! Do, could, should command is the biggest enemy which lies inside only.

Maximum Indian don’t have the courage to do the right things.
Shame shame shame and shame on to us

If we are simple and honest no need to afraid no need to depend upon instruction only.

I see many commentators try to convince Mr. Nagesh Nayak. You can convince a person with 100% Knowledge. You can convince a person with 0% knowledge. But it is very difficult to convince a person with 50% knowledge.
As rightly said by Mr. Satish, the Govt. can provide dustbins. People like Nagesh Nayak and their comments should be thrown in these dust bins for they are most dangerous to the society.

Yes you are right but governement may think if proven written law implemented for only rapist.

1)Kidnapping the girl may increase (rapist will not act in public area)
    2)missing girl may increase
    3)rape and murder may increase
    death penalty should be
    1)kidnapper and rapist as well

incase kidnapper failure while trying to misplace a girl
rape death penalty will be out of law
then again question may arise what punishement will be applicable for girl kidnapper ?

Our chief justice told that 90 percent of Indians are fools. I totally agree with him because the couple were suffering on road for about hour without any cloths but not a single Indian try to help them. Are they Indian or foreigners.
I will tell that Indians are not only fools but they are cheaters reason, such big mistake happened in India , instead of correcting it every one is playing politics. i.e. one is telling Italian Government another is telling it is because of Indian culture not because of bharati culture. Please improve Indian/Bharati.

Iam doubtful of the Centre bringing strict law to curb such attrocities agaisnt women. Amul Baby was accused of a case around 8 years back which you can check in net. So do we have cases of allegations on many politicians irrespective of parties which often we get in news or net. When such prominent people have allegations, how can Centre go forward with strict law. Perhaps, it will keep rolling time with statements, assurances, & steps as 1,000 sheet chargesheets, etc.

It looks like that Government still does not want capital punishment or chemical casteration for rape crimes. The life imprisonment does not sound that fearful as much as the term hanging. Anyone would think ten times before touching a woman if the punishment is capital one.

I appreciate the courage and mental balance the victim's male friend had who fought bravely to save the girl. Also, he did help get the half dead girl's body to load into the PCR Van. It was indeed an herculious effort.

My appreciation to you, young man.

It was due to the utter callousness and lethargy of the policemen\officers who did not take quick action to take the mortally wounded two-some to a NEAR-BY hospital did all the damage and may be the real cause of her death due to excessive bleeding.
Is it so important under whose jurisdiction the incident happened. Don't the Police know in advance their jurisdiction. Did they have to keep arguing about it when two grieviously wounded\battered people lying there beside them.
This is the height of bureaucracy!!!

Thed government must take immediate action of those police officers involved and punish them (not just suspend) for their gross negligence

    Dear Nagesh Nayak
Im not a supporter of any Political Party. I read your commets always and take it in a positive manner. But tody i dont feel that you have sympthy for rape victim. You think there is difference between CONG state rape and BJP state rape? you think there is different LAW for BJP state rape and CONG state rape? Dear Nagesh recently rape case reported from Bangalore. In Gujrat many rape cases are there too. Rape is a social Evil and not belong to any party or any state. Even In IRAN AND SAUDI also rape cases are there despite of very strong law.

in india all rapist are from our society and belong to someones brother or sons. Govt alone cant change a socity its our duty too. Govt can provide a dustbin but we have to throw waste inside the dustbin. Both you and me have responsibility too

Nagesh Nayak, our problem is people of your kind, not the rape perpetrators.

The issue is not Italian led country, issue is people like you in the community. To hide your solidarity with the rapists, you are diverting the issue.

Any time, a threatening issue happens in India, it is shifted to Italian congress, or fanatical RSS. The issue is not the focus.

This shows his sick his mind is, and needs to be examined by a psychiatrist.I will be happy if this man is arrested for character assassination.

PRESENT STATUS OF INDIA..And I am worried that juvenile who is 17 years old will be 18years old within 4 months. There is a possiblility that he can come out within juvenile jail within 4 months because as per law he can't be sent to major jail and he can't stay in juvenile jail too once he reaches 18 years ! He was the one who tortured Damini like an animal. RULERS SHOULD CHANGE THE RULES..Every Indian prays for new rule.

He is the olny key eyewitness in the case,so he can tell to the court what happened on that day ask for minimum to death sentence to all the six person. This will be little relief to him.

Age of Juveniles should be lowered to 14 or 12 , as one of the accused is monor. Its good to see society waking upto juvenile crimes. Days are over , minors were treated as innocents.......//...... This man is also equally hurt by incident but almost got no sympathy from public , its an apathy!. This shows men can be vulnerable too , and issue is not about gender. Its being tolerant and open to others. Stop messing with others bussiness. Public should not get carried away by male hatred generated by feminists after this incident.
