Timely Help Could have Saved Her: Rape victim's Brother

New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS): The brother of the deceased gang-rape victim said Saturday that his sister would have probably lived if proper medical care was given to her on time.

"She lost too much blood lying on the roadside. If she had got good medical care on time she would have perhaps been with us today," her brother told IANS over phone from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.

"There was a gap of nearly two hours from the time my sister was thrown on the roadside till she received medical aid at Safdarjung Hospital," he added.

Quoting his sister's male friend who was with her with the incident happened, he said that many pedestrians and vehicles passed by but no one helped. Finally, the highway patrol alerted the police who then took her and her friend to hospital.

The 23-year-old woman was brutally gang-raped and her male friend beaten up Dec 16 in a moving bus at night.

The woman succumbed to her injuries Dec 29 in a hospital in Singapore where she was airlifted for specialised treatment.

    Regarding the under-aged rapist,
can someone tell me, if the case against this particular rapist goes beyond his birthday and sentenced after he turns 18 years old, will he languish in normal jail and serve his full sentence?

    Thank you for answering.
If it is yes, then the case proceeding should be delayed until he crosses 18 years of age and then sentenced.
If these under-aged boys are playing with the law, it should be taken note and pay back in the same way - that is what I think.

    What do you say?

There are many who have fallen prey to such incidents but left without a word. She survived to give her verdict in order to bring about changes in law to save her sisters from future incidents and give rigorous punishment to the rapists.Tho, she is not amongst s us she will live for ever. For ever in the history of mankind.
