'Yaya Ind-Ya Mayaya' Enters Next Phase with Goa Auditions

Margao, Jan 9: Goa auditions of ‘Yaya Ind-Ya Mayaya’, the first of the 7 auditions to be conducted around India, was successfully held at Rabindra Bhavan, Margao on Sunday January 6.
 
Pramod Alva, dance director and choreographer, who has the unique distinction of being the leader of the dance team 'Ocean Kids', finalist in the TV reality show 'India’s Got Talent', was one of the judges.

Rami Nair from Bangalore, dance director and choreographer, who specializes in the Latino dance forms, was the second judge.
 
The third judge was Avil D'Cruz, the leader and dance director of ‘Nach Sobhann’, the only professional dance troupe of Konkani.
 
Eric Ozario, the convenor of the contest, conducted the proceedings. Tomazinho Cardozo, president, Jagotik Konknni Songhotton, declared the auditions open. Vivek Mordekar, the local coordinator, was honoured on the occasion. Louis Pinto of Mandd Sobhann was the final tabulator. Irene Cardozo managed the registration desk.
 
The speciality of this audition was that a troupe from Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, also contested in the auditions.
 
As per the rules, the best two duets and the best two groups qualified from Goa to move to the semi-finals.
 
The duet teams which qualified are:

Darryl D’souza and Raquel Fernandes
Akash Telgu and Aaditi Morajkar
 

The groups that qualified are:

Snaden Shawn Dance Academy, Bastora, Goa
Floor Fillers, Calangute, Goa
 

The qualifying duets and groups will compete in the semi-finals with the winners of the other Centres, on May 18, 2013, at Kalaangann, Mangalore, for a place in the finals, which will be held on May 19, 2013, at Kalaangann.
 

The other auditions will be held as follows:

The organizers have decided to allow groups and duets to register even at the venue, between 9 am and 10 am, on the day of the auditions, till the lots are drawn.
 
Goa auditions have set a high standard in dance and presentation. ‘Yaya Ind-Ya Mayaya’ promises to take Konkani dancing to great heights.
