Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jan 9: The Jet Airways direct flight to Dubai, scheduled to take off at 8 pm IST on Wednesday January 9 from Mangalore International Airport, has been cancelled.

Reliable sources said that the flight had to be cancelled as the pilot suddenly took ill after the passengers had boarded the flight. He was rushed to hospital.

It is learnt that the pilot later recovered and may be expected to be back on duty the next morning.

The flight had been booked to capacity.

Passengers have been accomodated at Hotel Gateway, Ocean Pearl and Deepa Comforts for the night.

Sources told daijiworld that the flight has been recheduled for Thursday January 10 at 7 am. It will arrive in Dubai at 9.30 am and the return flight to Mangalore will take off at 10.30 am.

Mr.G.Sadananda, you have said that AIE is a low cost carrier, but if you just check its regular ticket price, it is more than a FULL cost carrier.

Weather Technical snag or Pilot illness or any type of operational problems, it occurs to all the Airways not only for Air India Express. With in a week time of operation resume, jet airways have been cancelled one flight and re-scheduled after boarding all the passangers.but I have clearly know that Jet airways is very good airways and fentastic service also.but few unexpected things we cannot avoid.

Jet Airways, Appreciate it. It’s ok to be late than never!

You can’t predict a headache in the morning that you gonna face in the evening. No matter how experienced you are in flying an aircraft, on the said day you need to be fully fit to fly. Otherwise just chuck it, it’s fine. In my opinion, Jet Airways did the right thing assessing the risk for the passengers on board.

    Way to Go. Cheers!

When Pilot realized he is not comfortable to operate. So he has done right thing or not ? may be last minute...but you mean he should have put all passengers life in risk ?

The delay in flight/bus/train is on increase due to excess usage of man & machine. If it can be worked out, always have some cushion time, while travelling to avoid last minute blues.

Being a full service carrier jet is obligated to provide hotel accomodation. There is no big deal in it,but being a low cost carrier Air india express also provided me hotel accomodation when their flt was canceld last time

While I fully appreciate that any person can fall ill at any time, the rescheduling of the flight has put so many passengers to inconvenience. Moreover, Jet Airways has not done any big favour by providing accomodation as somebody rightly pointed out. They are a full fare or full service carrier and their fares are exorbitant.

A Pilot or a Passenger can feel sick all of a sudden. Sickness never comes as per the plan of people. Sickness will come when you least expect. Most important, Jet Airways provided the hotel accommodation to all the passengers. Thank you Jet Airways for taking care of all the passengers. Say a prayer to the Pilot...get well soon. God bless the Pilot. Good he informed that he is sick and rushed the hospital than putting all the passengers in trouble.

    @J.Karkera
Please remember that Jet Airways is a FULL service carrier and obliged to provide full facilities whereas AIExp is a Low-cost-carrier whose ticket contract is different. One has to read and know the fine print before purchase of tickets.

The pilot would not have left his
hotel room or home to the airport
even if he felt uncomfortable a few
hours earlier. Jet Airways has spent a lot of money for this.

Thank u Daiji for the . i am surprised as untill now comments are not there as i was expecting lots of comments for this. had this been Air India Express then there would have been lots of negative comments as before incidents have taken place. we all need to understand that these type of situation is un avoidable and happens to all airlines and not only air india express.
