Another Rape Attempt: Three Men in Police Net

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod

Sulliapadav (Kasargod), Jan 10: The Delhi gang-rape case which awakened the conscience of the nation seems to have resulted in more number of sexual crimes coming to light in the recent days. Whether such incidents have increased of late, or more number of victims are finding courage to file complaints, one can only speculate.

In yet another case of alleged rape, three men from Kasargod on Tuesday January 8 became the guests of Eshwaramangala police station.

It is said that in Kerala - Karnataka border, at a place called Kulada Paare near Sulliapadav, three men attempted to rape a woman on the pretext of asking her water to drink. When the woman began to shout, people nearby rushed to her rescue and tried to catch the accused. Even as they ran for their lives, one of the men tripped and fell, injuring his foot. The locals then surrounded the men and rounded them up.

The accused were identified as Abubakker, Shabeer and Kabeer from Kasargod.

The incident took place under the limits of Adoor police but the complaint was filed in Eshwaramangala police station. ASI Vittal Shetty later said that the case will be transferred to Adoor police.

Around 15 people reportedly employed in a quarry have been staying near Sulliapadav. The locals claim that their behaviour has been suspicious. Police have now been urged to inquire into the workers' actvities, and at the same time, police have asked the locals to report any suspicious behaviour.

Dear Jagadish,Gerald ,Nagesh nayak and all those who blame governments for rapes why dont you understand it is the upbringing in the family ,and a good society ,a good moral education which teaches to respect fellow human beings coupled with strong and just judiciery which will build a peacefull and progressive country..In all of this only the last part is governments responsibility but most others are every ones responsibility as citizens..why blame this party or that party..tomorrow if other party comes in power and if there is a rape somewhere are you all going to stop typing comments or will you blame the old party,,or perhaps you will count the number of rape cases and tell Oh during congress party it was more and now it is slightly less/or the other way ???Gentlemen it is time to stop all this blamegame and concentrate on how we can bring up our youth to be good citizens..not as some violent lathi weilding or rioting mobs in the name of parties and religion

People who call rape and other criminal activities as western or eastern culture do not know the meaning of the word "culture."

They need to refer dictionery for the meaning of the word "culture."

When these criminal activities do not fall under the ambit of "Culture", how can we call this western or eastern.

You are bringing the names of Kamasutra and BJP here.

Whether Kamasutra and BJP have supported rape? Please introspect.

People write irresponsibly without going to the root of the problem.

Unless we go to the root of the problem and find solution, any stringent law on this earth will not solve the problem.

Earlier times it was a shame & social stigma to expose such an act. Today, the media is no more a "MONOPOLY".

Repetition of such acts overwhelmingly in our country is due to the weak law, order & justice system in INDIA. The weaker will get exposed and the elite are well covered up.

Nagesha & Rakesha, (Laurel & Hardy)
Your comments are an eye opener. Thank you for letting us know that the Rapes in India are done by Italians and it is because of them. I guess the Italians and the Brits wrote the Kamasutra. We Indians need to stop being Hypocritical if we need to improve. It is our birth right to blame others when things go wrong. Please introspect before you post idiotic comments. Karnataka is ruled by BJP. Aren't there any Rape attempts in the state?
Blaming western culture is of no good. Indian movies are more vulgar than western movies. Introspect and then accuse others and other cultures.

The 12/16 gang rape in Delhi has left a big hype in the minds of people all over the country. Our women are awaken now and even slightest of the slight wrong move by men is seen as attempt to rape. Fine, the punishment should go according to the gravity of crime, and should not be seen and branded all trivial acts as rape.

In reading this article above, looks like one of them or all of them were about to misbehave with the woman, so it should be seen as as an attempt to molest the lady and they should be punished accordingly, not as rape.

Nowadays, one should be cautious while walking on the busy streets, if you accidently happen to brush away the shoulder of a female, you could land in trouble if she complaints. Police not going to listen to you rather the version of the woman only. As some one commented earlier, if one has the enmity, this is the best option for a woman to settle her scores.

Having seen the negative sides of reporting rape cases, the honorable Supreme Court has come out with the decision, not to change the existing law prevailing in the country to deal with the rape incidents.

Credit to the woman for having presence of mind and shouting aloud. I am sure the other women will now be bold to handle such situation. It is our culture to give water to strangers but now we need to verify the intentions of the strangers before offering them water. Women, girls when they are single, should ensure that they call the neighbours when strangers approach them.
