KRCE Demands Withdrawal of Std V, VIII Social Science Text Books

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jan 11: The Karnataka Regional Commission for Education (KRCE), which represents all the Catholic Schools and Colleges in the State, has demanded withdrawal of current text books introduced during academic year 2012 for Std V for Social Science and Std VIII for Hindi as well as Social Science subjects for the alleged ''saffron taint and insertion of Hindutva ideology” by the BJP Government in the State.

''The Social Science text books of Classes V and VIII, which were introduced during the academic year 2012 are embroiled in controversy,” said Sr M Genevieve, KREC Secretary and the former principal of Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, and claimed that ''already different groups, including prominent scholars, raised concern over some deliberate omissions and additions, use of words, using matter out of context and tweeting of facts.”

She demanded that ''due importance has to be given for systematizing the non-Vedic knowledge and contributions of Dalits, Muslims and Christians and other marginalized sections of society in the field of history, culture, literature, art and science so that the Vedic knowledge system can be avoided and dominance of the ideology of the Hindutva groups can be curtailed to an extent in the syllabus of the texts.”

Sr Geneview advised the State Government to post the draft copy of the textbooks for Std I to IV, VI, VII, IX and X, which are being prepared for the academic year 2013 and onwards, to the interested groups prior to passing and printing to avoid ''anything objectionable” so that it would not inconvenience the Government.

The KRCE, Sr Geneview said, will be organizing a day-long State-level seminar on ''Combating saffronisation of education and suppression of the subaltern voice” at the St Joseph’s Girls High School at Frazer Town in Bangalore on January 12, Saturday, from 9 am.

Karnataka State Minorities Educational Institutions Managements Federations, Karnataka Dalit Christian Federation, Karnataka United Christian Forum, Karnataka State National Christian Council Institutions and Karnataka Unaided Minorities Schools Management Association are the co-sponsors of the seminar, which will be inaugurated by Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Bernard Moras and will have have several prominent scholars and educationists as the key speakers.

With emotion or without emotion truth is truth.Black sheep is there in every community. we cant portrait whole community by picking of some wrong doers. No one need to justify for wrong thing done by someone else XYZ. Modi killed thousands of muslim and he is telling it is in retaliation. osama killed many americans and he was telling it is in retaliation. Hitler killed millions of jews and he was telling it is in retalliation. U know, all committed sin.. In retalliation how can one kill others who has nothing to do with this bull$#!t.
and word kafir means unbeliver of islam.its a arabic word for the term non muslim.what is wrong in that? why you are calling others as non hindu?
similarly cristians call others as non cristians. I dint understood what you want to say. I am sorry

I think you are becoming emotional here, come on....be practical, you cannot justify the terror activities by muslims just by telling 'those indulging in terrorism are not at all muslims' & it will not change the ground reality of terrorism & opinion of the people all over the world about terrorism, unless you should have genuine interpreter of Quran to your younger generation, in fact most of your people has been misinterpreted the word 'Kafir' as 'unbeliever of islam','infidel','polytheist',(same has described in Islamic Dictionary also)which is the main reason for the terrorism and disharmony in the society.

Thanks for attempting to correct my spelling. For your kind information, black kids in London call the 'Lord' 'Laud' with love and affection.
Anyway, since you wanted to be a grammar Nazi you should look up the correct usage of 'embarrassed' and 'embarrassing', elementary stuff really if you ask me.
As to why people are not going to church, I think a little bit of soul searching will help, for example, the mind numbing ignorance displayed by you here on this very page by assuming that your Xian name gives you moral superiority is one of the reasons people dont go to Church. Go back to the basics please, if not for yourself, for the Laud

In India, Secularism means (for most of the Secular political parties) – Support (?) the minority at the cost of majority (only for vote bank). This will never lead to a secular India and is the root cause of the communalism. The religious books like Geeta, Bible or Quran can never propagate hatred in the society. It’s done by few perverted human minds. Just neglect them. Let them try all means to destroy our culture, remember “No one could destroy the INDIAN CULTURE in the past and No One can do it in future” because it is our soul.

    Mr.Santosh.
Not only you even I respect swami Vivekananda.I selute that great man who came to earth with spiritual power.
What U said the ardent follower of Quran, they are not at all muslims and as the quran has no link to terrorism how can we say that they are ardent follower of Quran?Only those will say who dint read quran.
Quran says If anyone kill any human being as if he has killed whole of mankind. If someone killed mankind then he is saitan irrespective of his name abdul or ahmad. Quran tells to look equally those who are following othr religion and if our neighbour has nothing to eat and we dint helped him then we are not muslims. Then how you r linking quran with terrorism? Unfortunately many muslims also dont know quran as many hindus/cristians dont know about their scriptures and all divide people by their name not by his deeds. This is ignorance.
Eachone has his choise of worship provided he will not hurt others.

We respect his views, but way of worshiping the god it's our wish unless there is no harm to the society.

Are you for real? is that even an argument that you have presented?. What you are basically saying is that the negative things that happen in India is to be termed as 'Indian culture', you bring up straw man arguments and dish out randomly memorized google buzzwords like 'bride burning' 'untouchability' etc. These practices are not inspired by the vedas, just like burning witches isnt inspired by the Holy Bible( peace be upon it)or for that matter walking into a school and firing indiscriminately (is that part of western culture)Get some balance in your statements instead of frothing in the mouth kind of responses. I think you are so deracinated that there is little hope for you unless you follow the instructions in the holy book word for word. Finally, just having a 'westernized' name doesnt qualify you to be morally superior to the indigenous people, it is quite the opposite actually, the indigenous people have the genes of those who chose to fight, those with westernized names are off- springs of those who laid down their arms. Respect and be respected as it is said in the Bible, verse no 34 psalm no 66 . Dont live in a fool's paradise thinking that you are somehow superior to those following the indigenous culture. I can only LOL at you as you are the type of people who make spreading God's word more difficult

In mahabharata Lord Krishna told Arjuna to Kill their cousins in battlefield. that is war aginst falshood. It will be out of context if I tell that Bhagvadgeeta tells to kill our cousins!!
    LOGIC!!
I have no problem in your worship. Thats your intrest. As per swami vivekananda hindu should follow veda and he should be called as Vedantist. Only some of hindus following swami vivekananda and not all..

I studied in Catholic school (1973-1979) where morning & evening prayers are the part of Bible & we with Muslim classmates required to sing bible prayer. Evening after prayer Jana Gana Mana were chanted by every student. Other than bible songs nothing being prayed. Even we have been given red color Bible-a tiny book to take home and read. We student & catholic teachers till today like so much & respect like our parents. My parents /family/community around the school known about this those days and never made a communal. I d’t understand What is the problem in introducing or learning Vedas or any other religious subject for knowledge purpose . Why u guys communalizing this issue.

I dont think you have the god given right to speak on behalf of the people of the west. Your opinion is perhaps formed on the basis of the people you interact with. Now I will not doubt what you have said if your interactions are limited to chicken and chips shop crowd, or those standing in a queue for handouts, to put it in a better way, people like yourself. IF you broaden your horizons and interact with more civilized people then you will be surprised by the amount of respect that people have for Indian culture. Swami Vivekananda spread our Vedic knowledge to the West and the same is being recoginsed all over the world.

It is unforturnate that on the 150th birth aniversary of Swami Vivekananda we are reading this news item.

When Vedas have preached universal brotherhood by saying "Vasudhaiva Kutumabakam", why these people are against Vedas?

Immediately on the back of Owaisi calling for destruction of Hindus, these missioneries are demanding removal of Vedas from our text books.

Vedas are foundations of Hinduism and without Vedas only skeleton of Hinduism will remain.

All these days, these people were trying to stab Hindus from the back and now they are striking at the very base of our Dharma.

All of us should understand the hidden agenda of these people and vote the BJP in the coming elections with huge majorities to save and strenghthen Hinduism in our motherland.

This is a serious issue that needs further investigation. Children should be shielded from this poison being propagated by the Sangh Parivar stooges posing as academics. Here in London, there was a similar hue and cry about the syllabus in Saudi sponsored schools, all that was hushed up however after a fat bribe was paid. Anyway it is okay when the conflict is between the people of the book. In India, however, it is prudent that the natives be discouraged from cultural nationalism. It goes without saying that cultural nationalism is antagonistic to doing God's work.
Peace be upon you and yours
