Beltangady: 364 JD(S)-Sponsored Buses Arrive at Dharmasthala from Kolar

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (NM)

Beltangady, Jan 13: In the wake of water shortage in the Malur region of Kolar district, JD(S) members led by K N Manjunath Gowda paid a visit to Dharmasthala here on Friday January 11. People of Malur region also arrived in as many as 364 buses, all sponsored by Manjunath Gowda.

The trip was made as per the announcement by JD(S) leader Anitha Kumarswamy.

Each of the 364 buses carried images of HD Kumarswamy and Manjunath Gowda along with the image of Shree Manjunatha Swamy. The banners read, “A prayer to Shree Manjunath of Dharmasthala, for the permanent solution to water crisis in Malur”.

Redirect Netravati

Speaking to reporters after holding discussion with Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Manjunath Gowda said, "There is acute drinking water shortage in the district of Malur. We are in need of water. Water should to be supplied from regions where there is adequate water. Diversion of Netravati River can solve the problem. We are here to ask water for our people and there is no political motive," he said.

"Water is currently being supplied to Malur in tankers, however, we need a permanent solution," he added.

No diversion of Netravati: Dr Heggade

Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, however, refused to accept demands of Netravati diversion.

"It is not at all possible to divert the river. Regarding diversion, a complete study of its advantages and disadvantages needs to be done. I cannot solely take the decision. I cannot do injustice to the people of this region," Dr Heggade told Manjunath Gowda during the discussions.

Political Agenda

There seemed to be a clear political agenda behind the JD(S) visit on the water crisis issue.

One person in the team that arrived at Dharmasthala has been reportedly taking people of the region on weekly trips to Dharmasthala and other places, with the image of the former minister M Krishnayya Shetty attached to the vehicle, in a bid to grab voters' attention.

It is said that efforts are on to woo voters of this region towards JD(S) in the name of water crisis and other issues.

Interestingly, some of those who arrived in the 364 buses did not even know the intention behind their visit, and said that they had come to offer prayers at Dharmasthala temple.

Diversion not a good solution, Karavali also has this problem. Problems are not solved by creating problems.

Not only ecological imbalance, it will also create imbalance in many other areas.

In the past we have instances, killing river has killed civilisations.

Rightly said KJP KARKALA..All political parties have enough money for generation next elections.Party donor's name should be made public every year.As BJP-JDS was in power for the last 8-9 years and you know sources. Thanks to UPA for RTI Act provisions and I am sure that maximum BJP ministers/MLAs may warm PARAPANA AGRAHARA for corruptions in the eve of forthcoming Assembly election of Karnataka which is a world record.

India receives heavy rainfall every single year, but unfortunately the rainwater is left to go back to the nearby sea through rivers and lakes. Karnataka Government should spend 100 Billion Dollars to build Rain Water harvesting projects across the state and massive dams like the Three Gorges Dam in China.

Jd(s) strength had confined to 4 disctricts In last Zp election, this time it has become very dominant in 8 districts (Hassan, Mandya, tumkur, Ramanagar, Bangalore Rural,Kolar, chikkaballapur) and parts of Mysore district.Jd(s) is giving nightmare to congress leaders in this district. Do not be surprised if Jd(s) sweeps most of the constituencies like in 2004 .

    Cent percent true..

Kasturi channel is the ONLINE version of JDS. More than people and their problem, it is busy telecasting what HDK said which place..

Janashree is busy in promoting 'SWABHIMANIYA YATRE'

TV9 is busy promoting telugu movies in Karnataka..

Public TV is busy with pralaya, grihana, Maata, mantra...

My comment is incomplete if I don't mention about ISMAIL TV 24x7. This channel is busy in defending CONGRESS CORRUPTION and blaming BJP without reason.

When Ex-President Abdul Kalam first advised this idea, people started with enthusiastically but later on as usual nobody took initiation. Kalam also said that if possible only and minimum disturbances to local affecting people plan should be implemented. So many meetings, site visits have been conducted but no one dare to come in front line. Redirecting of few Indian Rivers are still possible but not according to Politicians wish. No doubt we are facing acute water shortage during summer season. I think major Cities should make a rule like Bangalore City for “Rain water harvesting” for all new buildings coming up in our region.

Political motivated rally, so no use to talk to them.

Diversion of Netravathi river will create ecological imbalance. So it is better not to divert it, instead leave it as it is present.
