UAE: Ex-Agnesians / Aloysians Gear up for Fun-filled Reunion

Media Release

UAE, Jan 15: Ex-Agnesians and ex-Aloysians are all set for a fun-filled Reunion 2013 to be held at Al Jazira Hotel and Resort, Ghantoot (on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway road) on February 1.

The highlights of this enjoyable ‘day out’ event will be one of their kind. Participants will be assured of an activities-filled agenda comprising scintillating music, fun-filled games and the most amazing cuisine.

The Agnesian / Aloysian troupe of musicians / singers have left no stone unturned to compile a fusion of Eastern as well as Western music, enough to make even the non-dancers sway their hips to the rhythm, tune and lyrics. The Aloysian music stalwarts have, commendably, also introduced the younger generation of  Agnesians and Aloysians into their fray; only to compile an extraordinarily-appealing music album of sorts.

This is an opportune time to meet your batch-mates, friends and perhaps your old flames too of yesteryears.  Make hay / merry while the sun shines / fun lasts.

The buzz is around since the end of 2012 and there have been an outpour of online registrations. Entry coupons are limited and hence, you will need to hastily make way to get your share of these to include your family and friends.

In this regard, the following organizing committee members may be contacted:

Dubai :

Walter Peris                          050-4553265
Ronald D’cunha                     050-6588383
Anita Pinto                            050-5353284
Wilson Samuel                      050-6466503
Johnson Samuel                    050-6531382

Abu Dhabi :

Abdul Majeed                         050-5680210
Sydney D’souza                     050-6521104

What is also interesting to note is that a terrific opportunity awaits, in terms of exhibiting your signature dance moves to the catchy beats at the ‘Ag-Aloy Gangnam-style’ duet / couple dance competition; with registrations open on the day of the event itself.

The main sponsors will be Mangalore hills; albeit another Emirates Hills in the making, in the city of Mangalore. They are ably backed by the Thumbay Group in the ‘Associate’ category and supported by several prominent institutions of the likes of ICICI Bank, LIC, Globe Link West Star Shipping LLC, Acme Building Materials, Al Ghaith Oilfields, UAE Exchange, Leens School etc.

The organizing committee members with their open-door, board room-type sessions have made use of all their time and effort to ensure a seamless flow of proceedings at the above event. The audience participation therefore will not go in vain; thanks to the array of gifts and prizes that are on the anvil for the young, middle-aged and senior alumni  and their families.

To add an extra flavour to the activities, the renowned Neville D’Souza will be the master of ceremonies. Neville, with his inimitable style, flair and penchant for the wit and humour aspects, will keep the audience in splits and ensure there's never a minute of boredom.

Hurry up and get ready for a day of fun, frolic, laughter and with a little bit of hype and hoopla, and make this the most memorable event of 2013.

Mr. Damian Mendonca, Paduvasians ( alumni's of Paduva High School, Mangalore ) meet every year on Jan 2nd at the Cordel Church grounds. This time the crowd was about 375. I think it needs to be organised better.

You can register your name at the school office.

    Hi,

This is in continuation with John Samuel's comment.

Well I hear the nuns used to wind up the college much earlier the day we Aloysians used to plan a victory procession.

But then the girls instead of going home, used to pass their time doing something or the other and wait for the procession.

Just goes to say the words of the song... " Those were the days my friend we thought would never end for we were young and sure to have our way..... "

So be it, guys have your way have a BLAST at the reunion, however do let us know of it all through pics. and video at the earliest.

    Kind Regards

    Aladdin Pais

Those were the days when we used to go down St. Agnes college lane for every celebration may it
be a college election win or a match! and the girls would line up to watch our antics...and pretend they were not interested....their excited faces giving them away!! The Aloysian Musical evening always had a bevy of beauties from St.Agnes college in the audience and our performance surely hit many notches higher with their sheer presence!

Senior citizens in Mangalore feel they are 300 years old but a senior citizen in Bangalore or Mumbai feels he is 25 years old. what is the psychology ? Can anyone answer ?

This is how the Agnesians & Aloysians should meet & enjoy. The present Aloysian meet at St.Aloysius is very boring with mostly senior citizens.

Surprisingly, when Mangalorean catholic senior citizens meet at the Catholic Club in Bangalore they really have fun. Why is it so dull over here with everything closing by 10.30pm ? A day and night difference !

    Madam Lobo
Agree! However, those were the days when having 'crushes' were far and few in between! I almost got 'crushed' because of one such crush.
    Her name was Loveena- really!
Those were the days when we had to do 'Pathedari'(spy work through our channels!)to even know the name! Got friendly with her -Then one day called out lovingly-
    'Loveena-Love eena...
She replied'Love Naa, Kaayen Naa, Bopaik Kalaan-Maaka Gothuna...
    But'Loveena' I persisted...
'Chalta Ki Naa-Sath Sangthaa,Anee Haavn Turlya Ulainaa'-she blurted..
'Well- that was the end of that-I got 'crushed' , but somehow recovered. Maathra Maaka 'Love' Melunkath Melu Naa-Tedalaa....
Nowadays 'crushes' are dime a dozen and 'crushing' is the in thing!Life has also become a 'rush' what with it's hectic schedules and what not! However one does not forget his/her first crush-Right? Agree?

    Mr. Bhandarkar,

Until SAC opened up for co-education, teaming up of youth from these two institutions was a vogue in Mangalore. Not that it isn't now but when a partner is available within the premises, who cares to waddle in the muddy waters ? Just joking - I have my young relatives studying there as well as in the faculty all of whom we just adore !

Happy union to those who have left SAC and loads of dreams to those who are still within.
