Six Killed as Militants Attack Pakistan Checkposts


Islamabad, Jan 15 (IANS): At least six security personnel were killed Tuesday and 28 injured in militant attacks in Pakistan's Khyber Agency.

The militants targeted four checkposts in Shalobar area of Khyber tribal region's Bara Tehsil, Dawn News reported.

Four Frontier Corps and two other security personnel died during the night-long skirmishes. The militants attacked with heavy weapons causing major structural damage to one of the checkposts, according to security sources.

The number of militant attackers and their casualty figures were not known immediately.

Frontier Corps is meant to help local law enforcement and carry out border patrol and anti-smuggling operations.
