Udupi, Jan 15: 'Choornotsava', the tradition of pulling temple chariots on the day following Makara Sankranti, was held at Sri Krishna Math here on Tuesday January 15 with great pomp and splendour.

The Brahma Ratha was pulled through the streets with thousands of devotees taking part in the festivities.

The Utsava Murthys of Sri Krishna and Mukhyaprana were placed in the chariot and taken through Car Street where the Car festival was held. Coins and food were distributed among the devotees.

Later, the 'Avabhrutotsava' (bathing ritual) of the idols was performed at Madhwa Sarovara at the Math.

The proceedings were led by Sri Vishwavallabhateertha Swamiji of Sode Math, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Sri Vidhyadheeshateerth Swamiji of Palimar Math, Sri Vidyasagarteerha Swamiji of Krishanapur Math and Sri Vishwaprasannateertha Swamiji.
