Puttur: Food Adulteration - Pickle with a 'Twist'!

Puttur, Jan 18: Food adulteration comes in all forms - water in milk, particles in grains, and what not. But the strangest of them all is perhaps what was found in a jar of pickle by a consumer here.

Believe it or not, Satish Rai, a resident of Puttur found a spanner inside the jar of pickles he bought!

Satish Rai purchased a half kilogram jar of pickle of a known brand, and started consuming it. Intially nothing was found amiss.

However, after a few days when the jar was half empty, a rusted spanner was found inside!

He then lodged a written complaint with the officials of health department.

Sathish also clicked the picture of the spanner in the pickle jar and released it to several media.

Sources said that action will soon be taken by the court against the pickle company for negligence.

One may even be tempted to call it a marketing technique of 'buy one get one free' though the result is not so sweet!
