Mangalore: Foreigner Arrested for Not Possessing Visa, Passport

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (VM)

Mangalore, Jan 19: Ullal police on Friday January 18 arrested a foreign tourist for not possessing visa and passport. The matter came to light when the police were investigating the recent theft by foreigners at a jewellery store here.

The arrested has been identified as Jiji (20) from Georgia. His identity was established with the help of a colour photocopy of the passport he had in his possession.

Sanoos from Georgia had earlier been arrested for a theft at Rajdhani Jewellers on January 11. On January 15, Jiji visited Sanoos in Ullal police station. During his visit, inspector Madan Gaokar and SI Ramesh quizzed him and learnt that he neither possessed visa nor passport.

Jiji said that he had left his passport in Goa. The same day, the police took him to Goa where a search was made for his passport, but in vain. He was then produced in the court.

Sources said that Jiji was residing at a place called Anjan in Goa and often visited Mangalore.

Mr. Don Amnon, you are absolutely right. Thousands of our brothers working or living illegally in Middle East, Europe and USA. Then do we really have a say when a handful foreigners stay illegally. Having said, in the interest of our country's safety, we need to check the inflow of foreigners without valid residency documents.

Expatriates other than GCC citizens must have iqama, i.e. a residence permit. A person discovered without a valid iqama which are known colloquially by the article numbers in the immigration regulations. The three main types are work visas, domestic and dependent visas, all of which require a sponsor. But in above case JIJI How he entered India ? India Visa Process very simple no need any Sponsor ?

If one goes to Kolkota you would find that every third person is a Bangladeshi. In Uttarakhnand / Uttar Pradesh / Bihar you would find Nepalis. No passport & no visa. Nobody seems bothered. Go to Kasargod and you would find Pakistanis. But Life goes on.

Complete identification means the absolute fixation of the individuality or a person. Partial identification means ascertainment of only some facts (e.g. Sex. Age, stature),Compulsory complete information about card should be hold by each individual while travelling from one state to another, which one approved by the government.Card should be produced by any individual on spot request of any police, police officer, even in check post as well, then only it is easier to control and recognise who is out state people, foreigner and who is state people .If any individual failure to produce the card on spot request of police or police officer , there should be some certain fine even if the individual produce the card later stage also.At present anybody can roam throught the India without holding proper ID Card. Above system which is not difficult to implement as well I can not see in that something like rocket science is there, only need proper planning system from central and state and which should link with public as well. Each individual should adhere to hold the card in their pocket otherwise should ready to pay the fine incase the Card produced in later stage.
