Mangalore: National-level Media Manthan Fest Ends on High Note

Mangalore, Jan 22: The two-day national-level media fest ‘Media Manthan’ organized by the department of mass communication, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) ended on a high note with a fitting valedictory ceremony held at Eric Mathias Hall at the College premises here on Tuesday January 22.

Devdas Kapikad, actor, director, writer was the chief guest on the occasion, his son actor Arjun Kapikad was the guest of honor while Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal presided over the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Devdas Kapikad said even though so many films had come and gone in Indian cinema, people still remember the actors. "All (actors) have unique style for which they are famous. They are an inspiration to us," he said.

"Changes in cinema industry occur every year with new innovations and technological adavancements. Tulu movie is also doing well and achieving greater heights in the cinema industry," he added.

He cited examples of great talents like Kamal Hassan, Rajnikanth, Amitabh Bachchan and several others produced by Indian cinema, who are rated among the best in the country.

Kapikad lauded the talents showcased by students during the fest and wished them good luck.

On the occasion, Arjun Kapikad was honored for his achievements by the dignitaries.

Acknowledging the honour, Arjun said, "It is a great feeling for me as I am being honored by my father who is a great actor." He lauded the organizers of the fest for choosing the beautiful theme of ‘celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema’.

Winners of various competitions organized during the fest were declared and they were awarded by the dignitaries.

Laxmi Shenoy, Bhavya Shetty, Vishal Nayak, Kiran Shenoy among others were present.

The valedictory ceremony was followed by stunning dance performance by the award-winning dance troupe Boyzone and students of mass communication. Several competitions like Viraam (Ad Making), Bol Bachchan (RJ Hunt), Taare Zameen Par (Quiz), film screening ,workshops on photography and film direction and techniques, interactive talk and web designing by eminent personalities were also conducted on the final day of the fest.
