Mangalore, Jan 26: "Cultural policy is important for an individual and organization. Without these principles neither can do good to the society. It will also affect the country’s cultural framework," said Dr Mohan Alva, president Alva’s Education Foundation.

He addressed the gathering after inaugurating ‘Shanthi Milana’, the three-day district conference by Rotary International 3180 on Friday January 25.

"Persons inclined towards culture and aesthetic reflection are a role model to achieve success in life. It is not enough if you provide bookish knowledge to a child as its importance is limited. Instead, along with imparting knowledge we should inculcate a thirst for culture in the child through which we can build a culturally strong world," he said.

Flagging off the 43rd district conference, prominent music director Guru Kiran said that he has close bond with Rotary Club. Being the first international service-oriented association in the world, it works with the intention promoting humanitarianism and culture, he added.

District governer of Rotary Dr B Devdas Rai welcomed the gathering and association president Sathish Pai proposed the vote of thanks.
