Dubai: Karnataka Sangha gears up for 'Vasantotsava' celebration

Dubai, Jan 28: A curtain raiser programme for Vasantotsava 2013 was organised recently at Winny's Restaurant Karama. Various association heads attended the meet.

The event will be held at JSS Private School, Al Safa, Dubai, on Friday February 8 at 3.30 pm. A special attraction of the event will be the drama 'Hai! Bye! Dubai' to be staged by local drama troupe Inchara Kala Tanda-Dubai.

C R Shetty, patron Karnataka Sangha Dubai; Sadiq Hussain, advisor; K R  Tantry, vice-president; Daya Kirodian, general secretary; Jayanth Shetty, treasurer; Chandrashekar Sankole, entertainment secretary; Yathiraj Jain, Gulf coordinator, Alva's Virasat Foundation;  Satish Hegde, coordinator, Inchara Kala Tanda Dubai, (writer and director of drama 'Hai Bye Dubai') were present on the dais.
 
Speaking on the occasion, C R Shetty congratulated Inchara drama troupe for taking the initiative to stage Kannada drama, and appealed everyone to support Vasantotsava programme. He concluded saying that for a couple of years Vasantotsava programme was not conducted but now the Sangha has been appreciated for once again starting the Vasantotsava. He also requested everybody to attend Alva's Nudisiri programme in large numbers, which is now being performed on an international level.
 
Sadiq Hussain congratulated everyone in a unique style by singing a song in Kannada and requested everybody to make this event successful.
 
K R Tantry gave a detailed report of Vasantotsava programme, and requested everybody to take part in 'Adarsha Dampati' contest, and make this event memorable. He also requested everybody to participate in the art and craft exhibition and showcase their talent. The art could be in the form of wood, drawing, painting, handicraft, thread craft, or handmade dolls etc, he said.
 
Daya Kirodian thanked Inchara Kala Tanda for choosing Karnataka Sangha Dubai to host this drama, and assured to render support to their dramas in future. He thanked all the media partners and said that without the support of media no programme could become a success, as it is they who reach the public and inform them about programmes.
 
Yathiraj Jain briefed about Alva's Virasat-Nudisiri programme which is to be held in Dubai on January 31 at Al Nasr Leisureland Ice Rink. He specially mentioned that tickets can be brought for just Dhs 10 at all Karnataka restaurants and thanked Karnataka Sangha Dubai on behalf of Dr Mohan Alva for inviting him for the curtain raiser programme.
 
Jayanth Shetty and Chandrashekar Sankole also spoke a few words on the occasion.
 
Satish Hegde of Inchara Kala Tanda briefed the purpose of this drama, and said that the drama contains a good social message for those living in Dubai and also back home. He thanked Karnataka Sangha Dubai for giving him an opportunity to showcase this drama under their auspicious banner.
 
Shashidar Nagarajappa, joint secretary of Karnataka Sangha Dubai during the event mentioned that president Girish Shetty was out of country and conveyed his message requesting everybody to support for Vasantotsava 2013.

He also thanked Winny's Restaurant for providing the venue to host the programme. All Kannada associations and community association heads were present. Nagarajappa thanked everybody who took their valuable time and attended the programme.

Nagarajappa compered the programme. Executive members, Manohar Hegde, Lawrence Nazreth, Harish Kodi, Arun Mysore, Satish Shetty along with sub-committe members were present.
