On Tuesday January 29 Ghataka members held a meeting at Fortune Plaza Hotel chaired by Dr Mohan Alva at around 8 pm, in the presence of a large number of leaders and members of various associations of Karnataka in UAE.

Yathiraj, the convener for UAE welcomed the gathering and invited Dr Alva, Sarvotham Shetty, C R Shetty, Shodhan Prasad, Herman Lewis, Harish Sherigar, Sadiq Hussain, K Tantry and Satish Poojary on to the dais.
Dr Alva said he was happy to see the members gathered in such a large number and explained what the programme was all about. He narrated in a chronological order how the Nudisiri and Virasat episodes came into existence. "The main reason behind this is the love to our language, culture and tradition which we need to spread across the world. We need to take this as an interest individually not leaving it to the government alone," he said.

He added that this bold attempt to make Nudisiri-Virasat international is a challenge, and is hoping for full support of all Kannadigas in this part of the world.

He announced that the decennial Vishwa Nudisiri a ‘World Kannada Conference’ and ‘Vishwa Virasat’ cultural meet is scheduled from December 19 to 22, 2013 at Moodbidri and requested the UAE Ghataka members to attend. Leaders on the dais also spoke encouragingly and confirmed their support to this mega event.

Various community leaders and members including auditor Kambli, Frank of Mosaco Shipping, Sudhakar Alva and Ganesh Rai of Bunts UAE, many ladies of various associations along with well-wishers attended the meeting. On Dr Alva’s request most of the the attendees became members of the UAE Ghataka whole heartedly. Many members assured that they would strive to draw in many members from different associations of Karnataka in the UAE.

The three-hour mega event which will be staged at Al Nasr Leisureland, Dubai on Thursday January 31 at 7 pm will open the curtains and stage 80-member students' troupe from the Alva's Education Foundation who have already arrived in Dubai on January 30 noon at 11.30 am to present the extravaganza heritage cultural festival. The event will also be staged in Abu Dhabi Indian School Auditorium, Abu Dhabi on Friday February 1. The programme includes dance, music and skits which will be a feast to the people in UAE.

The 80-member students' troupe from Alva's Education Foundation has already arrived in Dubai and was welcomed by the Ghataka Members at the Dubai Airport.

Dr Mohan Alva has expressed complete trust in the Kannadigas in the UAE and said, "Everyone should come in large numbers to witness this maiden event in UAE to make it a memorable milestone in the service and development of Kannada cultural heritage so that together we shall strengthen our love and respect to our motherland."

UAE Ghataka of Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri-Virasat welcomes all Kannadigas to arrive well in advance, reserve their seats and enjoy the three-hour cultural festival along with their friends.

Though i appreciate greatly the efforts of Mr. Alva to promote the culture of tulunadu and also his work towards Education, I would humbly request him to grant more support to our Bunts community children by extending donation free education. Hope other rich bunts also look in this aspect inorder to build up our community more strong.
