Cong Padayatra reaches Mulky: Don't fall prey to ploys of divisive forces, urges Poojary

Mangalore, Jan 31: Former union minister, B Janardhan Poojary, stressed that Congress party remains strongly committed to ideals of national integration and communal harmony. He advised people not to fall to the tactics being employed by certain quarters, which are bent upon disturbing communal fabric of the society for their reaping benefit.

He was addressing a public meeting organized near Mulky bus stand on Wednesday January 30 as part of the Padayatra organized by Congress for creating awareness among the people about the failures of the BJP government.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr Parameshwar, who launched a scathing attack on the state government, lampooned the Chief Minister for claiming to be enjoying majority, knowing fully well that his government does not have the support of majority MLAs.

“He says his government is stable, and that he would be presenting the state budget. He believes he can fool the people to believe his false claims. People are aware of what is going on, and this Padayatra is aimed at achieving religious harmony and to creating awareness among the general public for their own good,” he explained.

Opposition leader in the assembly, Siddaramaiah, branded the present state government as the most shameless one in the history of the government, as it has stooped to unseen levels. He called upon the people to teach a fitting lesson to the BJP in the ensuing election.

Claiming that his party has always kept its promises, he promised to punish the miscreants who spread communal hatred, and include provision of rice, wheat, and financial aid to the poor classes and the children at subsided rates if Congress is voted to power. Pointing out that leaders like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi had laid down their lives for the sake of the country, he said his party is committed to Gandhian ideals.

Opposition leader in state legislative council, S R Patil, opposition whip in the assembly, Abhay Chandra Jain, Congress leaders like B L Shankar, B Ramanath Rai, C M Ibrahim, U T Khader. Pratapchandra Shetty, Ivan D’Souza, B A Bava, B A Moidin, Meghnath Shetty, Mahima Patil, Gulzar Banu, B M Asif, and several others were present.

When you are having govt. in central, try to do developmental work in this region instead of doing cheap show off. First try to complete NH work..people started finger pointing only congress..they will not blame BJP..Now everyone knows / educated about politics. Not like before. Wake up leaders...if you dont have brain.. hire people and take adivise...politics is business..be careful...people from DK/udupi are not fools...they will teach lesson to any party when time comes....

Instead of going on Padayatra with so much of fanfare and luxury with tax payers money and causing inconvenience on the NH66 and slinging mud at other parties ,promising promisis after promise that to after they get into power, even in this age of technology our leaders STILL think that they r from earth and we the people from dust.
As there were so many leaders, they could have done a simple and just work by making several groups , drifting in different dirictions and fullfilling tne needs or at least the basic needs of the people from ULLala to Udipi so that the end voting result would have been only HATH-YATRA!!!!.

good comments by Arshad Ayub, Mangalore/Pune. All die hard KONGI and BAJAPA supporters here in Daiji , both of you are equally supporting corruption by praising these two parties. Better option is to support AAP to get rid of corruption, to bring lokpal bill and send all these netas to sanyasa.

Congress leaders(?), first please ask the high command in Delhi for a strong Jan Lokpal Bill to be passed in the parliament. All other padayathra and gadayathra are secondary. Ask her to make CBI and CVC independent of her intervention. If you do it, I will also vote for you.

the number of volunteers/supporters in the padyatra is less, maybe they lack motivation. It seems like some leaders only want to show their face and enjoy the fruit rather than work and earn the fruit.

Oh... they reached Mulky, no problem, after their departure our Mulky Gram Panchayat will do the pest control again. I am going through their scathing attack on State BJP Government but never uttered a single word regarding corruption by Central Government nor did they explained why development works in Karnataka was not done by Congress Government when they were in power. Which “Yatra” will they conduct for their own purification after making record breaking scams all over India?
