Bantwal, Jan 31: A JCB, which was engaged in road widening work, accidentally fell into the roadside ditch on Wednesday January 30.

The incident occurred at Marakkini on Kalladka-Kanhangad road in the taluk.

The machine in question had been put into operation for executing asphalting work of this stretch of the road. The place where the accident occurred is located near the Marakkini mosque, where the road happens to be very narrow.

The road widening project was taken up by PWD in view of the fact that this stretch had seen a number of accidents in the recent past.

No one was injured in the incident. The JCB was later lifted out of the ditch with the help of another JCB.
