Udupi, Feb 2: The four-day Congress Padayatra which began from Ullal on Tuesday January 29 drew to an end here on Fridday February 1 with a valedictory ceremony at Malpe here.

KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar said the primary agenda of the Congress if it comes to power will be to take measures to rejuvenate the non-operational Brahmavar sugar factory by releasing Rs 60 crores.  "The present government has failed to restore the factory. The BJP government has failed to understand that this was one of the sources of subsistence for farmers in this part of area," he said.

"If our party comes to power, we will allot Rs 10,000 crores to irrigation and water projects every year. Congress government has always kept women empowerment among its top priorities. Programmes like MGNREGS, mid-day meal scheme, youth employment programmes are all initiatives taken by the Congress government," he said.

"Congress has built approximately 11 lac of houses for the poor. Nearly 60 lac are getting benefit of mid-day meals scheme," he said.

He said the first padyatra of state Congress was against illegal mining in Bellary. "The party was successful in exposing the corruptions of the Reddy brothers. The second padyatra was organized in north Karnataka and the third in coastal Karnataka," he added.

"It is a silly that the Shettar government is planning to present the budget. After losing majority in the house, with what face will they present the budget?" he questioned

He urged RSS and similar organizations not to interfere in school activities and spoil the academic environment by creating 'hatredness' in young minds. "If the RSS convention in Mangalore involves school children, Congress will take strict action," he said.

He said that BJP government should dissolve itself immediately as it has no moral right to continue in power. "It is high time BJP goes for fresh mandate. Public will decide the credibility of the party and the verdict will be the response to the government's 'achievements'," he said.

"BJP leaders have sow the seeds of violence among communities. The coastal districts were once known for peace and harmony but now the situation is different," he added.

Referring to the recent cases of moral policing in Mangalore, Siddaramaiah criticized the fundamentalist outfits demanding, "Who gave them the right to take law into their hands? Their behavior is totally against the principles of democracy. The Sangh Parivar is acting on behalf of the BJP government and getting support from them."

"BJP has never supported the backward class communities and is totally against the poor. All BJP leaders are corrupt and are into undemocratic, anti-women activities," he alleged.

Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes, C M Ibrahim, Jayaprakash Hegde, Ivan D'Souza, U T Khadar B Janardhan Poojary, Gopal Bhandary, Gopal Poojary, B A Moidin, Abhayachandra Jain and many others were present.

Perhaps someone must have misguided these leaders, or they have misjudged the coastal area. Congress performs yatra in middle of cities or with more publicity & trumpets. Definetly at the end of yatra most will end with bottle in their homes or rooms or malpe beach. This is just an attempt to fool public, but hardly they will succeed. In State Congress, Padyatra is permanently fixed for Siddanna & other benifts are reserved for others like SMK, etc. Tommorrow onwards these people will carry their walking oops..padyatra in their hometowns.

BJP needs to do a lot of introspection, Despite winning in 2008 with a solid majority, BJP sarkar failed miserably to seize power. It has behaved like a destructive opposition party. Dirty Resort politics to scams to scandals They have neglected industrial , urban-rural growth, failed to generate job oppurtunities for locals. People of KA have only suffered due to the shabby administration by this pathetic party. THIS TIME WE NEED A CHANGE.

Bjp has lost all its credibility in karnataka. Yet, if there are any people who believe it it can only be because, they have some illegal gains or they still believe change is possible in the party. I personally can not see a change is possible as BJP is drowning more and more into the dirt rather than course correction. Sad that a golden opportunity is lost for the country to have a morally, credible opposition.

Dear congress padayatre committe... instead of doing padayatre against BJP you should have done it against central government... to increase the subsidized Gas, reduce fuel prices, implement Lokpal bill, etc. etc. etc. there are more issues at central government.. first do that ok... then blame other parties...

Campaigning for election through padayathre is nothing new in politics. All parties organize public campaign to deliver their message/agenda to public .All these mockeries are for only reason that it is being organized by congress!!!Let them campaign….voters will decide to whom has to be elected and eliminated.

Whether it is BJP or Congress, People see whether they do as they say!
People see performance, principles and law abidance!
Time has changed, when politicians used to say something and do something else people never used to notice or do anything about it.
Now it is time to walk the talk.
By your promises, you set your own yard sticks!

OTHERWISE BUNDLE OF PROMISES IS NOT NEW TO THE PEOPLE OF KARNATAKA BY ANY PARTIES/POLITICIANS.
