'Incompetent' BJP govt hurting Karnataka economically: Rajeev Shukla

New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): Accusing BJP of creating "instability" in Karnataka, Union Minister Rajeev Shukla said the current political situation has hurt the financial interests of the state.

"The ongoing political crisis in Karnataka highlights the sorry state of affairs precipitated by an incompetent BJP government, which has been more focused in pulling out all stops to manufacture an artificial majority in the Assembly rather than providing effective governance to the state," Shukla said.

He claimed the party's focus on saving its government has resulted in a slide of its gross state domestic product (GSDP) growth rate from 12.60 per cent in 2007-08 to 6.44 per cent in 2011-12 which was less than the all-India average of 6.88 per cent in the same year.

"This is despite the fact that the central government has been extremely forthcoming in providing assistance to the state. Central assistance to Karnataka over the last three years itself has increased from Rs 12,740.39 crore in 2009-10 to 13,603.78 crore in 2011-12," the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs said in a statement here.

He said BJP's "habit to play musical chairs" over the chief minister's post and "leadership-governance deficit has left the state bleeding into debt which has increased from 1.97 per cent of GSDP in 2007-08 to 2.91 per cent of GSDP.

Oh, I think he is free from BCCI duty now and might not have been travelled to Delhi for many years. Poor Shuklaji, pls forgive him since he doesn’t know anything what’s happening in Delhi. I think he might have read the comments of few people like Ismail Bhai or Shahnawaz Bhai regarding Karnataka and NDTV reporter asked him regarding Karnataka Politics sitting at Delhi Studio!!!!

Major problem for India at present though in the corruption in Central government and the policy paralysis due to indecisive and spineless leaders. This is told by most industry leaders and not me.

See the writing on wall Mr.Shukla, probably it is already too late.

We people of India have no trust either in Congress or BJP. Both the parties are highly corrupt and there is no doubt on this. Congress has Lions share in coruuption and the
latest being Jharkand mining scam.I just can't understand what these political parties are thinking of India. The CBI & ED are toothless as they are goverened by the bad syestem of ruling government. Most of the huge scams have been traced by Times Now. We just need a powerful third front (secular) party to lead our country with a clean governace.

State of Karnatak is very rich already by its GOD blessed natural resources- human resources.
vast coast line -fresh rivers -Western ghats etc.
    mineral deposits etc.
Al w eneed is to put men-material and money with 100% discipline and progress and prosper -work for the sttae and teh nation and not CHEATING-LOOTING - SMUGGLING-like thieves illegally with all hand in glove selling iron ore and othe rprecious -semi precious stones-granites quietly thru front people like ex- Verappan and other reddys -etc etc.
We just need one man like Mr. Narayan murthy or nanadan nilekani-or azim premji or Kiran mazumdar to head -Be the CEO
of he sttaae with full authority .
friends like LEE KWAN YEW a solo person -chief architect of modern singapore .
just check how prosperous thta country is -today.
    with no resources like dubai.
But KARNATAKA -we are blessed abundantly we do not need any politicians ,we just need handful of top managers -ceos to manage the resources.
Karnataka can be the most buoyant state in the world.
Eliminate all corrupt POLITICIANS AND their chamchas.
    simply ban them .
we need clean -transparent- accountable - hard working-result oriented -visionaries only.
Super impose the whole map of karnatakea and on teh computer -simulate the future -modrn city devlopt with :
    most modern projects
new cluster of cities-mega cities- rural areas - channelizing water -connecting rivers- BOT system of infrastructure.
most modern FREE ZONES like in dubai-singapore.
Rail way line s-metro-bullet trains etc.
    Modern airport like CHANGI international.
Send rest of the corrupt to the himalayas to do penance for their sins.
    we kannadigas need clean management.
Young intelligent kannadigas need good standards and quality life.
    like Europe-usa- ?
    why not.

    Shuklaji, I understand your concern
about Karnataka, and you are right. But overall, national basis you are wrong. Your govt. is also sailing in the same boat, may sink or float in the next general election. It is too late to correct for now. Finally political party leaders are safe, public is the sufferer and poorer day by day.

Shukla has hit the nail on its head. In the process of saving its government, BJP has neglected industrial, agricultural and infrastuctural development. Overall, growth has been negative, productivity of various government led companies is poor.

People still leave coastal and Northern regions in search of employment as no new industries have come up. Investments have dried up, One small expample from the IT industry in Mangalore is that only Infosys, Wipro and Mphasis have been around since a decade... No new major Tech companies want to set up base here because of poor social and infrastructral reasons.

People in this forum find it hard to digest the truth thats why they are attacking SHukla. SAD!!

Your party's backyard is stinking. Don't give sermons on any issue because all Indian political parties are same.

    Shukla,
Can you agree & say that Congress govt is hurting Indian economically very badly. You can't control price raise, inflation & petroleum product price raise.
What about in Andhra Pradesh, Congress is not having the habits to play muscial chairs over the CM.
Common man, grow-up. This is not cricket game for blaming. Please do the consturctive work & understand people basic need & involve in developmental work rather than balming.
