Kundapur, Feb 3: “A woman is a mother, wife and a daughter. However, it is never heard that a woman is equal to a man. The rural women should come to the limelight and not remain between the four walls of a home”, said MD of Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust and SCDCC bank chairman MN Rajendra Kumar.

He was addressing the gathering during a ceremony held for the distribution of uniforms organized by Navodaya Trust to the self help groups at Hemmadi here on Saturday February 2.

"Initially, in this male dominated society, there was lot of restrictions by men asking the women not to join self help groups. Today, the group has become a symbol of hope and strength for self dependence. The distribution of uniforms is a sign of growth and progress", he further added.

Speaking after distributing the uniforms, H Ramachandra Bhat of Sri Siddivinayaka Temple said, “Only when we give respect and equality to women, the society will find order. He lauded Navodaya Trust for bringing women to forefront and boosting their confidence.

Trustee Raju Poojary of Navodaya Gram Vikas Charitable Trust welcomed and presented a key note address. Journalist Subramanny Padukone compered the programme and Manohar Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
