Mangalore, Feb 4: celebration of any event needs a good atmosphere and space because a good ambience elevates the dignity and weight of any event. Taking into consideration of this need of the people and the school at Nithyadarnagar, foundation stone for the new community hall was laid at Nithyadarnagar Church, Permannur.

On Saturday February 2 at 5.30 pm Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza laid the foundation stone for the new Chuch Hall at Nithyadarnagar Church.

Fr Francis Crasta, the parish priest, Fr Gregory D’Souza, vicar var of Mangalore south deanery Fr Nelson and Fr Thomas D’Souza, parish priest Permannur, Sr Anna Crasta, Superior, Dominican Convent, Basil D’Souza, president, town panchayat, Ullal and parishioners witnessed this joyful occasion.

The building will consist of two floors. The ground floor is the community hall which will accommodate 1,250 people at a time and the first floor will be the new church building.

A solemn Eucharistic celebration was offered by the Bishop in honour of Our lady of Perpetual Succour after the foundation stone was laid at the church premises. A Konkani book “Sangnyachem thupem” of more than 1000 proverbs compiled by Valerian Sequeira, the vice-president of parish pastoral parishad was released by the Bishop after the mass. This year being the Year of Faith, Bishop in his message urged the people to remain strong and steady in faith and to translate this faith into acts of service. He also requested the people to contribute generously to the project.
