Mangalore: Tulu superstar K N Tailor back in action with 'Yerenla Nambodchi'

Mangalore, Feb 5: A treat awaits Tulu theatre fans with K N Tailor, known as the 'Bheeshma' of Tulu theatre, all set to begin his second innings. The man responsible for bringing a new dimension to Tulu drama and Tulu cinema is now ready to compete with Tulu theare's leading drama troupes with his Ganesh Nataka Sabha.

Even at the ripe age of 74, his love towards Tulu theatre remains as alive as ever. Few among the present generation may know his name, but those familiar with Tulu cinema and theatre are not likely to forget his immense contribution to Tulu theatre.

A yesteryear craze in Tulunadu, K N Tailor is the name behind several popular dramas and movies. He was capable of gathering huge crowds even during days when even basic facilities were not available.

‘Bombayi Kandane’, ‘Pudar Kenade’, ‘Dr Shankar’, ‘Thammale Aruvattana Kola’, ‘Yer Malthini Thappu’, ‘Shanthi’, ‘Kallda Dever’, ‘Yaan Sanyasi Aape’, ‘Kaasdaye Kandane’, ‘Badayida Bangar’, ‘Kandane Budedi’, ‘Indrana Aasti’, ‘Kaljigada Vishwamitra Menake’, ‘Yerenla Nambodchi’, ‘Dever Korper’, ‘Sainagandala Sathya Panle’, ‘Dasuna Madme’ were among the super hit dramas by K N Tailor.

So far, K N Tailors has released 9 movies, including 'Kaasdaye Kandane' with renowned actress Jayamala. People till date have not forgotten his role of Kalpana in his ‘Yer Mathini Thappu’ movie. ‘Daareda Budedi’, ‘Pagetha Pugge’, ‘Bisathi Babu’, ‘Yaan Sanyasi Aape’, ‘Tulunada Siri’, ‘Savirodorthi Savitri’, ‘Bhagyavantedi Tailor’ were his other movies.

The Tulu superstar will make a comeback with his all time favourite drama ‘Yerenla Nambodchi’ with his Ganesh Nataka Sabha troupe. The play will be staged at Town Hall on Saturday February 9.

 As an icing on the cake, K N Tailor will also present new dramas in the coming days.
