Mangalore: Alert AI Express crew saves passenger's life

Mangalore, Feb 6: Air India Express flight IX586 from Sharjah to Trivandrum made an emergency landing at Mangalore International Airport after one of its passengers suddenly fell ill.

Sources at the airport said that P A Sabu from Trivandrum started vomiting blood during the flight.

The captain of the flight and the crew swung into action and immediately asked for medical assistance at Mangalore airport.

The pilot made an emergency landing at Mangalore airport at 3.30 pm. As the crew had already alerted the airport officials, ambulance and doctors were ready when the aircraft landed.

The passenger was rushed to Yenepoya hospital in the city, where he is said to be recovering.

Air India Express Mangalore manager Melwin D'Silva rushed to the airport and handled the situation, making all necessary arrangments and informing Sabu's family in Trivandrum.

The flight that was supposed to reach Trivandrum at 4.30 pm took off from Mangalore at 5.30 pm.

The above information was confirmed to daijiworld by Mangalore airport officials.

    The crew members and manager Melwin deserves great amount of appreciation for taking right decision to save a life.
    I am a frequent flier of Air India(Bombay-Mangalore)and noticed their service too has improved a lot.

    No words for appreciation of crew and air port staff who helped the Passenger in the critical position by arranging ambulance and taken to Yenopoia hospital in Mangalore. May ALLAH give him fast recovery when he joins his family from a long time. HELP OTHERS WE DON'T KNOW WHERE WE REQUIRE HELP FROM OTHERS

    The captain and the crew of Air India Express deserve high praise in effectively handling the situation which indeed saved the life a person.

    The Manager of Air India in Mangalore to acted promptly as a very responsible officer despite the fact that it was past midnight when he had to wake up and handle the situation.

    Well done.GOD bless you.this is duty of every humanbeing espcialy air crue and they have special tryining for this.Last year one passenger fell ill on the way to Dubai from Manglore while flying through oman AIE landed in musqat and off loaded but passenger died on the way to hospital.sabu is lucky man.wishing him speed recovery
