BJP committed to construction of Ram temple: Rajnath

Allahabad, Feb 7 (PTI): From a VHP platform, BJP chief Rajnath Singh today raked up the Ayodhya issue saying his party is committed to the construction of the Ram temple.

The new BJP president made the declaration moments after former VHP chief Ashok Singhal bragged about the demolition of Babri masjid in the early 1990s during the campaign for construction of Ram temple.

"BJP is a party which believes in Hindu values. The party is committed to the construction of Ram temple at Ram Janamboomi in Ayodhya. It is a cherished desire of millions of Hindus and the BJP would certainly like to do its bit in fulfilling the same," Singh said.

He was participating in a meeting of the VHP's central advisory committee here in presence of its top leaders like Singhal and Pravin Togadia and party colleagues Yogi Adityanath and Laxmikant Vajpayee.

"I am a firm believer in Hindu ideals and love to take part in functions like these. It is my request that no political meaning be attached to my visit."

To a query on whether projecting Narendra Modi as BJP's prime ministerial candidate came up during his meeting the Sangh Parivar leaders, Singh quipped, "A decision on this matter can be taken only by the party parliamentary board."

Earlier, Singh, who arrived in the city on his first visit after assuming the top post in the party, drove straight to the Sangam for a holy dip.

He stopped at a number of places en route to accepting greetings and garlands from party supporters and when some of them raised slogans that they wanted to see "Modi as PM", he promptly asked them to keep quiet.

    Religion is opium to society.
In the name of religion, again swindling money by both parties. The leaders enjoy and common man suffers. Both party leaders enjoy good relationship and common man of both parties live in disturbance.

Sorry to say, these leaders make us fools in the name of religion.

justice Markandey Katju ia absolutely right - At least 90 percent of Indians are "idiots" who can easily be misled by mischievous elements in the name of religion.

By this discussion we bring only hatredness and disputes. Let s build India.Again whe it comes to political parties they are just the names given to it. I their system it is the Indian blood. Please again dont criticise one another saying congis, bjp, christians, muslims, hindus and so on. Lets criticise the system if it is not helping the Indian.

Sri Atalji Vajapyee headed NDA rule did not construct Ram Temple becasue it had no full throat voice.NDA rule was managed by BJP alligning with 19 Nos small factions with different ideolgies. So naturally decision on temple issue was not taken.I just clarified your doubts...Vajapyee did a great balanced act in running the government...It was really great.

Why didn't the BJP erect the Ram Temple when Mr.Vajpayee was the PM ?
Is this statement with a view of the coming Lok Sabha elections ?

The day you are born the death is written. So whether you build a Ram Temple / Sita Temple / Laxmana Temple, well you and I will perish at that moment which is destined for us. So do not waste time while alive. Do something good and concrete for society.See that people do not go to bed hungry.

Hello BJP, you remember Sri Ram only during election ? Why do you use God as an instrument for your evil designs to fool people for vote ? This is the very reason BJP fails every time. First, honestly and sincerely give place to Sri Ram in your heart and then plan to build a temple. Jai Sri Ram.

In simple words , Its History.
Before Mughals , The Aryans came to India from mid Europe and destroyed Dravid culture.
Citizen of this country should know the fact that , War/Flight against Region, Religion , Race is part of History.
And that was must that time to service because those days there was no Borders , no rules , No regulations.
The things which happened in the past several hundred years Back are not relevant now.
Now we have United Nations which facility international law, international security, economic development,
social progress, human rights, and achievement of world peace.

    @ Vincy, Bankok-
The Supreme Court is hearing the case, the High Court divided the land into 3 parts in its judgment which is stayed by Supreme Court now.
The Court had overstepped its legal powers in giving that judgment of "Appease All".
The Court had to just go through the documentary evidence regarding who is the legal right holder of the place, when Independent India came into existence, not withstanding the dispute.
The Court cannot judge solely depending on Faith or Belief of one section.
The Court need to verify whether Ram Temple or as excavations revealed, a Buddhist Temple was in existence before Babar built this structure.
One more thing devout Hindus should look into is- the place had burial ground of muslims & Karsevaks had died underneath the disputed structure when it was demolished( their skeletons were recovered when digging). Whether this place can be re-sanctified to erect a Temple?
There are nearly 100 Ram Temples in UP(they are maintained by different castes, which other caste people won't visit). Why can't BJP adopt one as the Ram Temple for All.

But when? Since more than 2 decade you people singing same song and playing the same game. Do it. Why simply giving the statement and wasting the time? If you are committed, fulfill it. It is too late. Waiting for more riots and more and more people to die. At least let the people live peacefully after the construction.
Earlier you had your government, your prime minister, your home minister, your police, power etc. etc. Why don't build it? That time your party not committed? Only the election nearing, your party committed! After election it is vomited!? Do you think all the time this trick: selling the old wine in the new bottle will work out? You can fool the public once or twice, but not all the time. Either your party is committed or interested. But you people want to keep the issue long live, to play with the people and their sentiments!

Why does BJP's politics always have to revolve around religion?

Why cant they talk about ideas about progress and development?

why do they always have to drive a wedge between communities in the name of religion, caste, etc?

Rajnath Singh is a smart guy but this time he/BJP should not take up the issue of Ayodhya for electioneering.People know very well that BJP seldom builds the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya nor it is interested in the issue. It did nothing as regarding Ayodhya issue is concerned. What is Ayodhya today opening the gates of disputed structure for pooja by Hindus, demolition of the Babar constructed structure, make shift temple there on,its status quo today is because of Congress direct/indirect support. One may believe or disbelieve on that issue but fact remains as such.BJP is only created a fever for the moment.Even if BJP/NDA gets majority in general election in 2014 Mandir will not be constructed....It is also bent on vote bank politics....but change is inevitable.....
However if Modi takes centre stage in BJP politics then pro people measures will get priority and not Ram Mandir issue. We have to fight first issues like,GDP growth,Employment oppertunity, agri sector development, housing problem, total prohibition in the country which is Mahatma Gandhi's dream also and last but not the lease total change in our legal system to help our mothers/sisters in the country to roam freely on roads even at midnights without fear, stringent punishment for rapists, quick delivery of law in such cases etc.,People across religions support deleopment and development only......

The SC has given its verdict on Ayodhya issue by dividing the land it into three parts. The judiciary is always aware that, the three cannot be united and at same time the rest any two also cannot be united. So each the 33% shareholders will always fight and end up the issue by incomplete temple. This will continue as long as one of the stake holder(33%) gets a majority one day.The day they get a majority and they rule the country then there will not be temple any more.

What public needs is roti, kapda, makan and employment, not mandir. So, even this time too, you are not going to win the election, holding the hollow promise of temple construction. UPA-III to rule the country again.
