Mangalore, Feb 7: ``The world will pose many challenges on the youth by the year 2030 and people of all communities should prepare themselves to face these challenges’’, said T V Mohandas Pai. He was addressing the delegates as chief guest of the valedictory function of the two-day `Konkani Kharvi Development Workshop’ held on February 4, 5 at Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Shaktinagar, here.
K B Kharvi, president of Akhila Bharatha Konkani Kharvi Mahajana Sabha welcomed the gathering.
Addressing the gathering as guest of honour, Ramdas Kamath U, chairman of Vishwa Konkani student scholarship fund said Vishwa Konkani Kendra would extend all co-operations in drawing a comprehensive plan of action for solving the problems identified during the workshop.
Presiding over the function, Basti Vaman Shenoy, president of Vishwa Konkani Kendra said a similar workshop has been conducted earlier by the Kendra for the benefit of the Kudumbi community and as per the decisions taken at the workshop a comprehensive survey on the economic and social status of the Kudumbi community has been launched under the directions of the eminent social scientist Dr Ravindranath Rao.
Total of 48 delegates had arrived from Mumbai, Goa, Uttar Kannada, Shimoga, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada to participate in the workshop which is part of `Vision Konkani Samaj 2030’ of Vishwa Konkani Kendra.
The delegates discussed important problems faced by Konkani Kharvi Community and arrived at 12 important resolutions. They also unanimously selected six resolutions to be implemented on emergency basis.
Mohan Banavalikar, workshop vice president moved the resolutions. Pradeep G Pai, secretary of Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Fund and workshop secretary Umanath Gangolli were present on the occasion.
