Mangalore: Theft worth several lacs at Krishnapura Temple

Mangalore, Feb 8: A major theft was reported at Shree Vishwanatha Temple, Krishnapura on Friday February 8 morning.

The incident came to light on Friday morning when the priest opened the main door of the Temple. It is suspected that the theft took place on Thursday late night.

Three silver arches, two silver masks and Trishuls, a big silver pot, two offering boxes with Rs 30,000 and Rs 10,000 each have been stolen. The total worth of the stolen items is said to be Rs 10 lac.

It is suspected that the thieves entered the Temple with the help of a ladder that was kept near the Temple. It is also suspected that the theft must have been carried out by some locals who were familiar with the Temple premises.

Suratkal police along with inspector Nataraj visited the spot. Investigation is on.
