Mangalore, Feb 14: While they were assurances at the national-level by the VHP that they would not protest against the celebration of Valentine's Day, the activists of Bajrang Dal in the city didn't seem to quite agree and went ahead with their protest.

On Thursday February 14, the Bajrang Dal members gathered near Besant Women's College and expressed their opposition to the celebration of Valentine's Day.

They shouted slogans and burnt greeting cards as part of the protest.

Addressing the media, Bajrang Dal leader Puneeth Pumpwell said that the Bajrang Dal has been carrying out a state-wide protest against Valentine's Day celebration as it is not an Indian culture.

"Valentine's Day is not an Indian culture and hence we are opposed to the celebration of this day and have burnt greeting cards to mark our protest," he said.

Earlier, in a press note the Bajrang Dal had announced the protest and said that  in the name of Valentine's Day, obscene and immoral activities take place, which ruin the cultural values of the country and the moral fabric of society.

Bajrang Dal leaders Pramod Pumpwell, Uday, Padmanabh and others were present.

Kadri police arrived at the spot.

Instead of spewing hate on those protesting, appreciate the fact that those who protested did so peacefully.

Everyone has reason to protest. If one hates Valentine's Day, it does not mean one should burn pant and jeans.

Valentine's Day is commercialization of love. If I feel so, no one has reasons to attack me for it as long as I do not force my views on others.

    Peace.

If they were really against Western culture they should have burnt their jean pants ,T-shirts, sports Shoes along with the cards and worn the Saffron Shawl around their waist(ko-a) and danced around this camp fire. Then the protest would have been meaningful.

What a Bunch of losers!! We are desperately trying to get some workers for certain renovations and we are not able ti find them in Mangalore so we have asked workers from Mumbai to do our work, and here we see this well built youngsters wasting man hours which can be used to earn some money and have a good work force to cater to all our needs, what makes them do this and what do they achieve from these utterly silly things I have no Idea! Probably they too are not aware of this! probably we need more NGO's and Govt Organisations to make a study on this kind of irrational behaviors and try to irradiate it like small pox, as I feel it is kind of disease/ infection which affects human brains!

Dear Indians, Why all these sadistic views about valentine day celebration? If that is foreign culture, why you wear pant/Jeans/fancy T shirts which is western culture, why you drink foreign made alcohol which is western culture. Now I have been observing without liquor is being served in any of the functions it is not called as celebrations/festivals.Why?This is not western culture?During engagement, reception,Mehendi even for final rites(Rituals)of dead person serving liquor has become a fashion.
Focus on some constructive works, Engage your strengths in uniting India not to divide it. Look at the Border, small tiny country PAK is violating the ceasefire on Line of Control. In Kashmir over 90% tourists have called off the tour to the region. After 65 years of independence without freedom, do you look forward for a slave culture once again?? Ponder upon the priorities right and rest will fall in place. Don't breed hatredness amongst humanity. Human beings are a wonderful creation of God in his own image and liking with varied talents. Let us use our talents for our betterment, clean governess and co existance.
Dear people, wake up and make priorities right, at least after 65 years gone..... Or else, one day even Bangladesh also will trigger unrest at the border.... No doubt....

You'll are protesting valentine's day celebration as it is western culture. For your kind information shirts and pants are also western itself. If you'll are so much against western culture then why the hell are you'll wearing pants and shirts. Wear dhothi and kurtha na which is pure Indian culture. You people just need a reason to create nuisance. All you unemployed youth of BD it would be better if u'll find a full time job for yourselves rather than being satisfied with some petty cash paid for doing all this stuff.

When "Diwali" was celebrated in USA, we all say "wow, even in USA they celebrate Diwali, even Americans embrace and love our culture, blah blah...... but a western festival is celebrated in India, we say "that is not our culture".... BD people should answer "What is our culture?" - Is Goondagiri our culture ? Is beating up people our culture? Shouting slogans and showing anger our culture? Is raping women in public our culture ? is throwing stones at churches and mosques our culture ?

Instead of calling "Indian" culture and "western" culture .. we need to develop human culture.. if you know the true meaning of "Valentine's Day" may be you would know what is really it means.!

But we want to be ignorant about others cultures, because the people who protest against other cultures have "no culture"

Thats double standards and hypocrisy to the core!! They should be wearing khadi kurtas, pyjamas, dhoti and all traditional "INDIAN" clothing!

And burning cards to prove a point is even more moronic owing to the fact that nobody uses cards to send wishes anymore. Especially in this electronically connected age.

Is our country fully dependent on the products they produce, why we are dependent on Western Countries from food, medicines, oil etc.. Why Indians travel by Air ? Aircrafts are not produced in India. People of India go abroad and earn some for their family and for the country which raises its income. Do Bajrang Dal know that how much is the foreign remittence from our nationals in a year. Because of Bajrang Dal our brother and sisters who work abroad and that too in Gulf countries suffer too much but they still work for their family. That same guy, I think, is using cream or whatever they use to lighten the skin from it's orginal colour. You can see that difference from his face and his hands (which are polished black, if I say black he might take offence.). That means he wants to impress with his lighter looks to someone, covertly but openly to fool others he does all these nonsense.

By wearing an Orange Shawl kinda cloth on you, and 3 or 4 orange threads on your wrist, does not make you Indian Cultured. Cannot believe you people came out in those cloths and shoes. As many told, its clearly western. Forget the clothes, even the way you are wearing them are western. SO you become pure Indian first, and then make us Indian.

    Dear Bajrang dal people
My humble request to you is: there are more grave evil issues in the society than these things where youngsters enjoy for a day. Equire some knowledge on drug peddling, set up some de-addiction centers, visit some old age homes and try to reconcile their families with them, give jobs for disable youths for living a dignified quality life, gain some knowledge how to help helpless people in the area to name a few urgent requirements in the society. Let the police act and arrest these unemployed goons and the judiciary dare put these RSS agents behind bar under Goonda Act. These foot soldiers of RSS know that their higher ups will bail them out.
Do the youth want this kind of radical party to run our country? We can see the living example in the very radically influenced Pakistan that is totally in a mess.

My only question is - what about other issues happening in India such as high corruption, thrashing young girls, rape, watching porn in assemblies, female infoeticide etc. Do these reflect our true culture???
BD's please work upon these critical issues and help our India in turning out to be a safe and perfect place to live rather protesting on these baseless issues!!!

    1. 1The Jeans pant and sports shoes which they wore are coming under Indian culture?

    2. The cards they burnt were purchased or robbed from some card shops?

    3. I can see more media persons than activists.

Today I received below message which needs to be understand by all BD people on LOVE.

Its love, when a little girl puts her energy to give dad a head
    massage.
Its love, when a wife makes tea for husband and take a sip
    before him.

Its love, when a mother gives her son the best piece of cake.

Its love, when your friend holds you hand tightly on a slippery
    road.

Its love, when your brother messages you and asks did you
    reach home on time..

Love is not just a guy holding a girl and going around
    the city.
Love when you send a small message to to your friends to make them smile.

Luv is actually a name of "care"..

There is nothing wrong in celebrating Valentines day if it gives a message of love and brings hearts closer.

    Happy valentine's day

One thing is very sure that if we get rid of these uncultured BD, once again our dear and lovely Mangalore shall surely become peaceful, friendly and prosperous.. Lets unite to get rid of these rouge elements before its too late. These BD members dont know that today their own sisters have received/given valentine's message to their loved ones....A happy swami nityananda day to you all..Valentine was a christian saint and vivekananda is a BD saint...so to appease these BDs in future we call this day as Nityananda day...

Good business for card sellers. Let these clowns buy all the cards from the shops and then burn them. However if they attack any shop and try to steal the cards then break their hands and send them to join Janardhan Reddy in prison.

Bajrang Dal members burn Valentine's Day greeting cards!
That means that, BD doesn't respect VHP statement! nor BJP's C.M. Shettar, their leaders !
And they talk about protecting Indian culture!
They are only Good for burning and breaking!

Who's cards they are burning are they belongs to particular shop which may have not received the hafta from the shop owner? Shop owner can file a suit against the bajrangis for burning the cards from his shop. It is illegal anyway Karnataka government will never get up from their sleep.

Hardly 20 brainless heads according to whom Valentine days celebration is western culture. However, I see all of them in Jeans and no one is in (Indian attire). Simply useles and burden to earth. If they dress well, remain clean with daily bath, they too will get Valentine, but, which Valentine will go near jobless, lazy & cow dung stinking rowdies ? That is why they are fraustrated and jealous of others. Wish a Happy Valentine day to all.

Burn the mobiles also Bajrang Dal. Can you stop valentine messages and pictures send through mobiles. Burning cards is really crazness. What culture culture these people are talking. If they are so concern about the culture, let them go and stop the rapes which is going on every states, every villages after implementing the law. Do some good. work. By burning you people are polluting the nature. By burning the cards, you people are fetching somebody's bread and butter. Do some good job. Save the earth, nature crazy people. Give protection to women, not your culture concept.

"Valentine's Day is not an Indian culture and hence we are opposed to the celebration of this day and have burnt greeting cards to mark our protest-what is indian culture, burning greeting cards on road and dancing???
In the name of Valentine's Day, obscene and immoral activities take place, which ruin the cultural values of the country and the moral fabric of societyTaking place Obscene and immoralactivities there is no special day is required.First people have to think about their attitude and change their behaviour then only we can built a moral nation.

Why police did not arrest goons and put behind bars... Two days b4 our CM said in Assembly that, tough action will take against moral policing... What happened to his promise? Because these people are from his own party, no any action?

Mr. Shettar, if u want to keep up your promise, instruct the police to send this goons to bellary jail not to mangalore jail.... Jail Hoo Valentine Day
